From the Bait Shop: It’s been two weeks since the last visit to the bait shop. The IBI crew got together at Lake County for a fun-filled weekend, and I put the weekly notebook to bed for that week. I’d like to say that we’re back and better and ever, but the Mudcats have only won four games over the last two weeks. That’s just not going to get it done. The offense wasn’t horrible last week. They managed to hit .256, and they managed four homers and ten doubles. The problem with the offense is that it really was carried by one player, with a bit of help from a couple of other guys. The irony here is that the Carolina Mudcats offense is leading the league in average and on base percentage, and second in OPS. The power numbers just aren’t there, as they are last in home runs, and the all-important runs scored. You can’t win games if you aren’t scoring runs. The offense was average to below average, but the pitching just wasn’t very good. The starters struggled all week, and while there...

Notes from the Wigwam: Just win, baby!

Isn’t it amazing how things can change in a matter of weeks? Just one week ago, the Indians were looking like a team that was inconsistent, deflated, and quite frankly — defeated. What about now? The Indians went 5-1 during this past week, and the team’s record now sits at 14-14. They’re currently in third place in the American League Central and they trail the Detroit Tigers...

Second Thoughts Game #26: Indians 7, Twins 6

This is a game where even when it felt like we were going to lose, they still win. That’s just the way this team has been rolling this past week. Center fielder Drew Stubbs had a career night going 4-for-5 with three doubles including a walkoff RBI double in the 10th inning. Justin Masterson bobbed and weaved and struggled with his command all night, but still gave the Tribe...
