Former Giants outfielder Matty Alou, the brother of fellow Giants Felipe and Jesus Alou, has died at the age of 72, according to the Associated Press. He died at his home in the Dominican Republic after battling diabetes for several years.

Matty Alou, once part of an all-Alou outfield for the San Francisco Giants with brothers Felipe and Jesus, died Thursday in his native Dominican Republic. He was 72. He died of diabetes complications, according to his former Dominican team, Leones del Escogido. The Giants also confirmed his death and said Alou had been sick for several years with a variety of health issues.

Sad to read about the passing of Matty Alou.
I recall with fondness seeing the Alou brothers in various box scores for the Giants, although no doubt just a few because Matty went to the Pirates for the 1966 season. Now we have that iconic photo of the three together, Matty looking so gentle.
