Vance Worley wasted little time in becoming a sort of fan favorite among Phillies fans in his brief stint in Philadelphia. The Vanimal was traded to the Minnesota Twins in December along with prospect Trevor May in exchange for Ben Revere, who will take over the starting job in center field for the Phillies. Now it appears that Worley will also be getting an Opening Day start with his new team...

Worley will be projected to start the season against one of the best pitchers in the game today, Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers. He also just seems to be excited about getting a chance to play an important role in front of a new fanbase.

So...the Phillies traded away an ace? Well, the Minnesota Twins have officially named right-hander Vance Worley as their Opening Day starter this afternoon. Despite Worley having a 6.35 ERA (12 ER in 17 IP) in five starts, the Twins still see Worley the best choice for their rotation (I'll have...
The pitchers who could save the Minnesota Twins aren't ready yet, and they may not be until 2014.
Alex Meyer and Trevor May arrived in separate trades over the winter, bringing with them the kind of power arms and strikeout mentalities that have been sorely lacking in the organization's pitching stock for years. Both have yet to throw a pitch in Triple-A, and the Twins appear...
BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) -- A.J. Burnett loosened up for his opening day start with three innings Wednesday in the Pittsburgh Pirates' 7-4 loss to the Minnesota Twins.
Burnett allowed two runs and four hits and struck out two. He'll next pitch on Monday when the Pirates host the Chicago Cubs.

It’s really neat because Justin Verlander is a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers. Get it? On Friday morning, the Tigers ace tweeted a photo of himself holding just about the most adorable tiger cub in the world, tweeting that he was taking it in as his new pet. Of course, Verlander was probably joking … or was he? After all, his rumored girlfriend Kate Upton claimed that she was...
FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) -- Minnesota's Cole DeVries came out after three hitless innings due to a sore right forearm as the Twins beat the Boston Red Sox 8-3 Friday.
DeVries, scheduled to make his first start of the season on April 6 at Baltimore, allowed one earned run during 17 innings in spring training and held batters to a .071 average.
Pitching coach Rick Anderson said it...

The Twins seem ticketed for last place in the AL Central in 2013. Yes, they still have the Twin Cities version of the M&M Boys (Mauer and Morneau), but not much else that is concrete. Willingham is their only source of power, since Morneau has been plagued by concussions...
When they traded Ben Revere to the Philadelphia Phillies this offseason, the Minnesota Twins believed they received a quality major league starter in Vance Worley.
Worley, 25, will take the lead in Minnesota's rotation this season, and the confirmation came Wednesday on the team's official Twitter account: Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has named Worley Monday's Opening...

FORT MYERS, Fla. The Minnesota Twins will begin the regular season with perhaps all of their goals but one accomplished.
A group of mostly young players has been built around the trio of franchise cornerstones catcher Joe Mauer, first baseman Justin Morneau and left fielder Josh Wilingham.
The pitching, however, continues to remain...
The Twins’ Target Field has gotten rave reviews for its food selection and now it’s the Vikings’ turn. Requests for proposals have been put out for food and beverage vendors for the new stadium.
