By Todd :LightyFormer White Sox slugger Frank Thomas settled his long-running legal battle Tuesday with a doctors' group that allegedly misdiagnosed his foot injury during the 2004 season.Thomas reached the settlement in his civil case as it was set to go to trial Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court. Terms of the deal were confidential."The case was amicably resolved," said Thomas Demetrio, Thomas' lawyer. "Frank is very pleased and is looking forward to Sox Fest" this weekend. Thomas alleged in a 2006 negligence lawsuit that two of the Sox's team doctors failed to detect he had broken his foot, an injury he said led to his leaving Chicago.Thomas claimed the doctors misdiagnosed a fractured navicular bone in his left foot as a bruise. He said he was wrongly cleared to continue playing, which led to a second break in his foot during the Sox's World Series run in 2005.
