Angel Villalona was once considered the top prospect in the Giants farm system. Then his career was turned upside down in 2009 when he faced murder charges in his native Dominican Republic.The charges were eventually dropped, and Villalona reportedly reached a settlement with the victim’s family. Now, still only 22, the first baseman is trying to get his baseball career back on track. Villalona, unable to do so last year, has reportedly obtained his work visa and will participate in the Giants’ big-league camp at spring training next week. He hasn’t played baseball in the United States since he was with the San Jose Giants, the Giants’ Class-A affiliate, in 2009.
