By Eric Luchetti and Jase Bandelow FOXSportsMidwest.com 1 Rays 19-10 2 The Rays survived their first week with Evan Longoria (torn left hamstring) on the DL against the Mariners and As but things will get a bit tougher this week as they travel to the Bronx and Baltimore. 2 Rangers 19-10 -1 The Rangers stumbled for the first time this season, winning just two games against the Blue Jays and Indians last week. It doesnt get any easier as they are in Baltimore for four before returning home to face the Halos. 3 Orioles 19-10 6 You know things are going right when you cap off a five-win week by having your designated hitter Chris Davis go 0 for 8 with five Ks AND pitch two scoreless innings for the win. 4 Dodgers 19-10 The Dodgers struggled on the road last week but thankfully return home for the first time under the new ownership group that includes Magic Johnson. 5 Cardinals 18-11 -3 After pitching poorly in his first three starts of the season, compiling a nasty 9.88 ERA along with three losses, Adam Wainwright is 2-0 and 2.70 since, a good sign for the defending champs. 6 Nationals 18-10 The Nationals landed yet another offensive player on the disabled list after Jayson Werth broke his wrist sliding for a ball in the outfield on Sunday. But on the bright side, it means more time for Bryce Harper. 7 Braves 18-12 -2 The Braves hadn't overcome a first-inning, five-run deficit since 1991, yet managed to accomplish the feat three times last week. Perhaps last seasons collapse provided a valuable lesson about never giving up. 8 Blue Jays 16-13 2 After winning four games last week against the Rangers and Angels, the Jays get to toss staff ace Ricky Romero against both the As and Twins. 9 Yankees 15-13 -2 David Robertson certainly has nasty stuff, but losing future Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera will be tough to overcome for the Yankees. 10 Indians 17-11 5 Since blowing a save on Opening Day, Chris Perez has been pretty much automatic for the Tribe, including four saves last week for the Central leaders. 11 Tigers 14-14 2 Rick Porcello looked good last week, winning both of his starts by limiting the White Sox and Royals to a combined 11 hits in 14.1 innings. 12 Mets 16-13 -4 The Mets have won each of their first three homestands to start the year, which is significant considering last season they won only three homestands the entire year. 13 Diamondbacks 14-16 -2 When will the D-Backs figure out how to win close games? Ten of their first 15 losses this season have been by one run. 14 Reds 15-13 3 Brandon Phillips started off the season battling through a left hamstring strain and has had to play catch-up of sorts offensively. Apparently he hasnt caught up yet, as he continued to struggle at the plate. 15 Marlins 15-14 9 Giancarlo Stantons recent power surge has put a charge into the red-hot Marlins, who are winning despite Heath Bells struggle to close out games. 16 Giants 14-15 -4 The injury bug continues to bite the Giants, as Pablo Sandoval became the latest member of the DL club after breaking his left hand. 17 Phillies 14-16 1 The Phillies will welcome back Cliff Lee from the DL, and nobody could be happier than the bullpen, which has struggled to close out games of late. 18 Brewers 12-17 1 The Brew Crew wrapped up a nine-game road trip with as many wins (three) as players lost to the disabled list. Yikes. 19 White Sox 13-17 -3 Adam Dunn has been seeing the ball much better lately, hitting four home runs and ONLY striking out eight times last week. 20 Athletics 15-14 1 Coco Crisp heading to the DL isnt a good thing, but at least the As get to give one of the brighter prospects in the organization, Michael Taylor, another look at the big league level. 21 Angels 13-17 4 Jered Weaver tossed a no-no. Albert Pujols has left the building. Hopefully now the Angels can focus on the bullpen, which is among the worst in baseball. 22 Rockies 12-16 -2 The Rockies starters are struggling to go deep into games of late, which in turn has taxed the bullpen. With Jamie Moyer scheduled to pitch every fifth day, that trend could continue. 23 Red Sox 12-16 -9 Just when it looked like the Red Sox had righted the ship, they lose five of six to Oakland and Baltimore. 24 Astros 13-16 2 A season-high five-game winning streak is a nice boost for a young Houston club that has shown some major improvement early on after setting a club record for futility last season. 25 Mariners 14-17 -3 The Ms snapped a seven-game skid by winning two straight against the Twins over the weekend. They should enjoy while it they can as they have three at home against the Tigers before going on the road for 10 games. 26 Pirates 12-16 -3 Manager Clint Hurdle once envisioned the day when the Pirates could hit Pedro Alvarez in the cleanup spot. It appears that day has arrived. Now if he could just envision a few more Bucco victories. 27 Cubs 12-17 Cubs manager Dale Sveum, who decided enough was enough last week after watching Carlos Marmol blow yet another ninth-inning lead, will be looking for someone, anyone to step into the closer role. 28 Royals 9-19 The Royals finally won a game at Kauffman Stadium, only to have it overshadowed by the season-ending injury to Mariano Rivera. Its been that kind of year for the Royals. 29 Padres 10-20 The season is just over a month old and yet the Padres still have managed to lose three or more games in a row on five separate occasions. 30 Twins 7-21 The Twins rank among the AL-worst in runs scored, batting average, home runs, runs batted in, slugging percentage, etc. No secret to why they are dead last in the rankings.
