Former Boston manager Terry Francona will interview with the Cleveland Indians on Friday. Francona's meeting will come one day after interim manager Sandy Alomar Jr. has his formal interview with general manager Chris Antonetti about becoming the replacement for Manny Acta, who was dismissed last week with six games left in the season. Alomar and Francona are the only confirmed candidates for the Indians' managerial opening. The Indians, who collapsed from contention in August, are 2-3 under Alomar, a six-time All-Star catcher with Cleveland. Francona has been working as an analyst for ESPN. He led the Red Sox to World Series titles in 2004 and 2007. He was a special assistant in Cleveland's front office in 2001. Last week, Francona told the AP he would welcome a chance to work again with Antonetti and team president Mark Shapiro.

Bobby Valentine Never Inherited Situation to End Sense of Entitlement in Boston

One year later, the Red Sox have fired another manager –– yet again. While Bobby Valentine deserves to share his brunt of the blame, he isn't entirely responsible for the team's failure. When he was hired last December, the Red Sox wanted to change the culture. After the Red Sox had taken advantage of Terry Francona's laissez-faire attitude, Valentine was tapped as...

Westborough Furniture-Maker Finds Way to Get David Ortiz's Presence Into New Yankee Stadium After Jersey Removed

As far as jinxes go, this one probably didn't do much. But it should still put a smile on hardy Red Sox fans' faces after a year to forget. The most enduring memory for most Red Sox fans from the building of the new Yankee Stadium in the Bronx was the news that a surreptitious construction worker had buried a David Ortiz jersey in the concrete deep within the new park. When...

Nearly a week after, Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks broke his wrist when he was drilled by a fastball. Middlebrooks was making strides toward recovery this week, taking his first swings off a tee since the injury. He's able to...

BREAKING: Red Sox Dismiss Manager Bobby Valentine

The Boston Red Sox has announced that manager Bobby Valentine would not return for the 2013 season. The Red Sox finished last in the AL East and had the team's worst record since 1964. Red Sox team president Larry Lucchino said...

Bobby Valentine injured while texting and riding his bicycle

It’s been a long first season with the Red Sox for Bobby Valentine. He has encountered issue after issue almost from the day he took over in Boston. Box Score: White Sox 11, Indians 0

While the White Sox claimed a big victory today, the Indians already had knocked Chicago out of playoff contention last week. Detroit’s Monday night victory clinched the AL Central for the Tigers, accomplishing an impressive September comeback to win the worst division in baseball. And, oh yeah, the Indians lost badly on Monday. They managed just two hits and one walk while striking...

Mercifully, Its Over…..But The A’s Are Still Playing!

Game 162. Regarding our beloved Cleveland Indians, it seems like this last two months has taken two full years, hasn’t it? I can’t remember a season that I wanted to end more than this one. Its crazy to think that I feel that way, considering as of July 26th, the Indians were right there in the race for the AL Central crown. On the same day the Indians were finishing out the...
