Only 11 games remain between the Boston Red Sox and the 2013 MLB Postseason. Six of those games will be against the Baltimore Orioles, beginning with a three-game series tonight at Fenway Park. The Orioles are still in the Wild Card hunt, but need some help down the stretch. With a win tonight, the Red Sox would officially eliminate the Orioles from East Division title contention. They would also inch closer to claiming the crown. Right now, the Red Sox Magic Number is 4 over the Tampa Bay Rays.
One team in the East that has the Sox number is Baltimore. Boston is 6-7 against Baltimore (79-70) this year, the only team in the East that the Red Sox do not own a winning record against. Over the past few years, it has been all Baltimore. The Red Sox hope to change that in these last six games of 2013.
Boston (92-59) is the only team in the Majors under 60 losses. On the mound to keep that title alive is Ryan Dempster, who is 8-9 with a 4.70 ERA and ha...

With the Boston Red Sox nine games up on the Rays and 10 games to go , not even Bobby V serving up Popeyes and Budweiser could derail this team from winning the American League East. Unless the Sharknado hits Boston, the Sox will start their World Series quest Oct. 9 at Fenway Park.

You might be wondering why I love one-word answers? Well there are a couple of reasons why. First, it’s a throw back to those days when you’re parents said, “Because” followed closely by, “Because I said so.”
To this day that’s a reoccurring topic with my therapist.
Second, it forces people to...

The Red Sox failed to clinch a playoff spot tonight as the Orioles finally got to Koji Uehara. Koji retired 37 consecutive batters over what feels like all summer until Danny Valencia (remember him?) came up in the 9th in a tie ballgame, and hit a triple to center field. One batter later, Matt Wieters poked a fly ball to right to knock him in, and the Orioles prevailed 3-2 after...
Blotto Yankee Fan Ruins Red Sox WinSince Buck Showalter is in town, it's fitting that we cite a Red Sox-related event involving the Orioles manager that happened twenty years ago tonight. Back then, Showalter was managing another team you may have heard of—the New York Yankees. In 1993, both the Yankees and the Red Sox were pathetic also-rans (much like the Yankees this year...

Prior to getting slaughtered 9-2 to complete a sweep of the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox honored Yankees closer Mariano Rivera.
It was a classy affair at Fenway Park so big props to the Red Sox organization for going above and beyond to honor Mo.
