Found April 06, 2010 on Mike's Mets:
Mets 7 - Marlins 1

I was at Opening Day yesterday thanks to Dana Brand, the author of the wonderful The Last Days of Shea.

The sun was shining, the temperature was comfortable, and for at least a day we were able to put aside all of the over the top criticism and enjoy the hope and love for the game that Opening Day signifies.

I enjoyed being at the game and just being a fan. I wasn't worried about how the rest of the rotation will fare or if Jenrry Mejia is ready to be here. I didn't agree with everything that Jerry Manuel did yesterday (Jacobs 4, Bay 5 -- really?), but I liked the attempted squeeze and the way the Mets went about their business yesterday.

We'll be posting a column from Dave Mills later on and I still hope to finish my season preview before the second game is played.
