Seattle Mariners 2 — New York Yankees 6
Felix Hernandez, nicknamed “King Felix,” was just that in New Yankee Stadium until tonight’s 6-2 win over him and his Seattle Mariners.
Entering tonight’s game, Mariners starting pitcher Felix Hernandez had a 3-0 record with a 0.38 ERA in 3 starts at New Yankee Stadium. In 6.2 innings, the Yankees managed 11 hits for 4 runs in the first victory over Hernandez in 4 starts in the new home. The big blow of the night came in the 6th inning with the Yankees trailing by 1 with 2 outs and 2 on. Raul Ibanez took a first-pitch fastball to right-center for a three- run home run that changed the game in the Yankees favor. Robinson Cano also went a perfect 4 for 4 with a double. Andruw Jones hit a pinch-hit two-run home run to put the Yankees lead well out of reach from the Mariners.
Hiroki Kuroda went 7 strong innings in which the 2 runs were given up via the home run. Dustin Ackley opened tonight’s game with a leadoff home run to left field. Former Yankee and top prospect Jesus Montero used the swing that would have made Yankee Stadium very comfortable for him as he hit a home run to right field.

Via The Big LeadThe Mariano Rivera song made it’s debut on YouTube and was a total sensation. They took the tune from “Don’t stop believing” and set it to a Mariano Rivera theme. A New York Yankees fan decided to record and lip-sync this and we thank him for it. It is amazing.
Who let A-Rod and Joba Chamberlain into the announcer's subscript table tonight? I wonder who the advertisement was plugging? [Follow me @TravisHouser]
In a season that has seen the New York Yankees rotation struggle to find any consistency, CC Sabathia appears to have settled into a groove. Sabathia won his fifth consecutive start Thursday, limiting the Tampa Bay Rays to two unearned runs over eight innings in a 5-3 Yankees victory. Sabathia allowed seven hits and walked one, striking out a season-high 10 batters. "Best...
Well another week in the 2012 MLB Season is in the books, and so far each one brings more excitement and drama than the last.
And this week history was made both good and bad.
First, the Yankees are learning what life is like without the greatest closer in the history of baseball. Losing Mariano Rivera to a torn ACL and a newly discovered blood clot did not just take a toll on Yankees...
NEW YORK -- The Seattle Mariners looked like the winners of the Jesus Montero-Michael Pineda trade when Pineda underwent season-ending right shoulder surgery before he threw a regular season pitch for the New York Yankees. But Raul Ibanez -- the player signed to at least partially fill the vacancy at designated hitter created by the trade of Montero -- made sure the Yankees won the...
NEW YORK -- Raul Ibanez hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning, Robinson Cano continued his torrid hitting by going 4-for-4 and Hiroki Kuroda threw seven solid innings as the New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners, 6-2, Friday night in front of 37,226 at Yankee Stadium. Mariners starter Felix Hernandez (3-2) bent but didn't break until Ibanez's homer...
There's been a rash of injuries to some star fantasy players this year, and many of those injuries occurred to closers. The loss of Mariano Rivera was the most recent development, as the legendary closer tore his ACL late last week. But if your fantasy team is struggling in the saves department there still are some solid options out there to grab. NESN's Julie Weatherbee...

Mariners at Yankees - This one jumped off the board for me. Phillip Hughes is -170 today. Really? The same Hughes who may have had a decent start the last time out but has been awful all year long as his 2-4 with a 6.67 ERA shows. Okay, you busted me Hector Noesi also has an ERA of 6.30, but pitched an excellent game last time out for the Twins (insert...
