Pirates (31-20) at Tigers (29-20) 7:08 PM–Comerica Park, Detroit MLB.com Gameday TV: ROOT The Bucs look for a split in Detroit before the two clubs head to Pittsburgh for two more games on Wednesday and Thursday. So far the Bucs are 3-3 in interleague play with 3 more games to go against the Tigers, plus series against the Angels, A’s, Rangers, and two more games with the Mariners. Tonight’s starters… Jeanmar Gomez (2-0, 2.75) vs. Rick Porcello (2-2, 6.28) Gomez has been very strong for the Bucs in his temporary starting role (that has lasted longer than most thought it would, and probably will extend for at least another start). His last outing was going just fine until he was forced out of the game thanks to a long rain delay. There are reasons to worry about Gomez tonight, though – all five of his starts have been against terrible teams (Brewers, Mariners, Mets, Astros, Cubs). The Tigers will be the first challenging lineup he faces – plus he hasn’t gone deep into a game yet, and the Bucs only got five innings from Liriano yesterday. Porcello was a potential Joel Hanrahan trade target in the offseason – good thing that didn’t materialize. The young righty has great upside but hasn’t been good this year. The Twins rocked him last time out, but his previous four starts were pretty solid. Regardless, the Bucs get a bit of a break here in between games against top notch starters Verlander and Anibal Sanchez. Tigers vs. Gomez Bucs vs. Porcello Here’s the lineups for tonight’s #Pirates game in Detroit. First pitch scheduled for 7:08ET. #LetsGoBucs twitter.com/Pirates/status… — Pittsburgh Pirates (@Pirates) May 28, 2013
