Pirates (1-4) at Dodgers (3-2) 4:10 PM–Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles MLB.com Gameday TV: ROOT The Pirates look to avoid a series sweep (or at least avoid a series shutout) today against the Dodgers. They’ve dropped eight straight at Dodger Stadium and have obviously been completely dreadful at the plate so far this year. It’s gotta change some time soon.. Tonight’s starters… Jeff Locke (2012: 1-3, 5.50) vs. Hyun-Jin Ryu (0-1, 1.42) Locke makes his 2013 debut after winning the job in the spring. He posted good peripheral numbers (lots of K’s, not many BB’s) during his stint in the big leagues last year, but was hit pretty hard for the most part. The good news for him is that the Dodgers have been slumping so far this year as well. Locke pitched pretty well in the spring, posting a 2.63 ERA over 27 innings.  Ryu came over this year from South Korea. The Dodgers paid $25M for the rights to negotiate with him, then signed him to a 6 year $36M deal. Los Angeles has simply gone crazy spending tons and tons of money over the last year. Ryu had a strong big league debut earlier this week against the Giants, allowing 1 earned run over 6.1 innings (despite giving up 10 hits). He’s a lefty and his out-pitch is the change up. LINEUPS: #Dodgers lineup vs. #Pirates: Crawford LF, Punto 2B, Kemp CF, Gonzalez 1B, Hairston RF, Uribe 3B, Federowicz C, Sellers SS, Ryu P — Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) April 7, 2013 #Pirates lineup: marte 7, walker 4, cutch 8, gaby 3, mckenry 2, alvarez 5, tabata 9, mcdonald 6, locke lhp — Rob Biertempfel (@BiertempfelTrib) April 7, 2013 With a day game following a night game plus a lefty on the mound, the Bucs are mixing it up quite a bit today. John McDonald and Michael McKenry make their first starts of the year. The Dodgers aren’t starting lefty Andre Ethier against the lefty Locke. LET’S GO BUCS
