Angels@Seattle Mariners

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (20-25) @ Seattle Mariners (21-25)

Pitching Probables: LAA – Dan Haren (1-5, 4.37 ERA)  SEA – Jason Vargas (5-3, 3.34 ERA)

Game Info: 7:10 PM PT; TV - Fox Sports West; Radio - KLAA 830

Nothing is working for the Angels.  They can't hit, their pitching has had too many ups and downs.

They are supposed to be playing the softest spot in their schedule, but have gone 5-5 so far.  Heck, they even lost an interleague series.  They pulled out every trick in the book to try and turn the tide on their season, be it making trades, releasing players, calling up rookies or demoting veterans.  They've tried everything.  Everything except... playing the Mariners!

If there has been one tried an true way for the Halos to get on a roll, it has been playing Seattle.  That isn't really meant to be slap at the Mariners, though they aren't very good and haven't been for awhile.  It is just that the Angels own them and have for nearly a decade.  The last time the Angels lost a season series to the M's was in 2003.

So this is it, the last trick in their bag.  If they can't whoop up on Seattle, then there really is nothing this team can do to salvage their season.

Albert Pujols has been crushing the ball since Mickey Hatcher was fired

Albert Pujols is quietly coming on for the Angels after putting together one of the worst starts to the season in MLB. The All-Star slugger has at least a hit in 13 of his last 14 games, and his numbers have noticeably improved since the team fired Mickey Hatcher as hitting coach on May 15. The stats show a significant difference. With Hatcher as coach (37 games/146 at-bats): ...

Haren fans 14 Mariners without issuing a walk in four-hit shutout

Los Angeles Angels right-hander Dan Haren is justifiably proud of his status as a workhorse. He has never missed a start in his professional career, leads the majors in starts since 2005 and has pitched at least 215 innings each of the past seven consecutive seasons, the longest active streak in the majors. But Haren was too proud to point to the lower back pain he had been experiencing...

Oh Oh Ichiro - Video losing track of number of outs

Thursday night game 1 vs. the Angels at Safeco Field in Seattle. The up and down Mariners seasons took another strange twist, or at least provided another strange highlight. Ichiro caught it, put his head down and started jogging towards the dugout, not realizing that there...

Frieri 'excited' after earning first career save

OAKLAND, Calif. As Ernesto Frieri buttoned his dress shirt and packed his bag for the flight to Seattle, he couldn't suppress a smile. He waited his entire big-league career for the chance he got Wednesday afternoon, and now that it was over, he looked ready to burst. A save. That's what Frieri wanted when he came to the Angels in a trade with the San Diego Padres this...

The case for Sciosciaface

It's official, Angels fans. We are on a roller coaster of a season. We're experiencing highs and lows like never before. The season is but two months young and we've already been on emotional ups and downs that, recently, have fluctuated faster than Jose Canseco's testosterone. Pujols has turned the corner, then he hasn't. Vernon Wells is mildly productive, then...

Angels starting to create positive momentum

SEATTLE So maybe this is where it finally begins. After a sputtering start, a horrendous first month, a lack of offensive firepower and a failure to create positive momentum, the Angels seem to be correcting themselves in mid-flight. OK, you've heard that before. But this time, it feels different. For the first time this season, the Angels came back from a four-run deficit...

Callaspo provides big hit in Angels' 11-inning victory

OAKLAND, Calif. -- With the acquisition of Albert Pujols in the offseason, many thought the Los Angeles Angels would be an instant contender for the American League West.
