Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Pitching Probables: SFG –  Matt Cain (8-2, 2.18 ERA)  LAA – Jerome Williams (6-4, 4.20 ERA)

Game Info: 7:05 PM PT; TV - Fox Sports West; Radio - KLAA 830

Mr. Perfecto is making a stop in Anaheim to face off against the man who just can't be beat at home Jerome Williams. This seems to be a classic case of Unstoppable force vs Immovable object. I pray that the usual post perfect game terrible start syndrome that is typically recognized as a certified major league superstition holds true tonight. Then again I don't think the Angels would have problems beating the Giants seeing as how they unfortunately happen to reside in the NL, a league that the Angels have no trouble strutting their stuff against.

Just like the series against the D'backs this game is going to be all about pitching, big man Cain gets to face off against a real offense while Williams gets to go head to head against a man who, for one day, was a perfect pitcher.

Should be a real fun night tonight in Anaheim.

Cain’s No-No Aftermath

There was no suspense as to whether Matt Cain would be the one to finally take a spot next to Johnny Vander Meer in the baseball record books with a second no-hitter in consecutive starts. Mike Trout banged a single to left on Cain’s third pitch of the night Monday against the Angels. Although Cain and the Giants won, the typically consummate righty was far from his sharpest. Cain...

Game Recap 6/18/12: Vanity Start

I know that I've been building up Jerome the last few previews, and coincidentally since I started talking him up he's been having some rather unlucky starts. Unlike his start against the Dodgers, he actually seems to have a decent reason for having a less than stellar start today.Jerome Williams was taken to the hospital after his start, experiencing shortness of breath...

Postgame Wrap: Mike Trout is Fast, and Other Truths

Mike Trout is very fast. Tonight’s recap is not about Matt Cain. The Horse did what he did, simultaneously falling victim to the post-NoNo curse and sticking with it in the Matt Cain Way. No, tonight’s wrap should touch on a few other subjects. First of all, Ryan Theriot. After back-to-back 3-hit days (with an off-day in between), he’s really played an instrumental part in...

Giants-Angels Preview

San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy said special moments like Matt Cain's perfect game "bring teams together even more." Having lost three of four since, the Giants may be hoping the right-hander has another gem in store Monday night. Cain will take the mound for the first time since making history last week, visiting a Los Angeles Angels team that's been...

Just a reminder that there is still plenty of Wezen-Ball content going up at Baseball Prospectus every day. There's also daily Tater Trot Tracker updates. For Father's Day...
