This is getting ridiculous. Ryan Church is in the starting lineup again, and Lastings Milledge is not. Aside from the fact that Lastings has infinitely more potential for the future than Church, let’s take a quick look at their stat lines (AVG/OBP/SLG):
Church: .183 / .220 / .310
Milledge: .271 / .343 / .367
No advanced analysis or explanation needed there…I think those numbers speak for themselves.
I’m trying to think of a reason as to why Church continues to be sent out there. The Bucs are facing a righty tonight? Milledge hasn’t hit a homer yet? Church is probably a little better on defense?
SO WHAT? If you’re actually going to platoon them based on righty-lefty matchups, we’re going to be seeing Ryan Church quite often since there are more right-handers than left-handers. Church only has two homers ...
