Garrett Anderson to the Braves

Posted February 23, 2009 on CoachScott's Blog:

The Braves didn't waste too much time in finding a veteran outfielder to add to their roster. Spurned by Ken Griffey Jr., the Braves turned to Garret Anderson. Anderson seems to have lost much of the power he displayed earlier in his career with the Angels, but he still managed to hit 0.293 last year with 14 HRs. He may bat in the cleanup position between Jones and McCann. Griffey would have been an upgrade to the Braves lineup and Adam Dunn certainly would have added some much needed power. It is uncertain wheter Anderson and his low 0.325 on-base percentage will be much better than what would be expected from Diaz and his platoon mate. Hopefully he will produce and help the Braves regain the post-season presence that many of us became used to.
