Found May 03, 2012 on Summer Ball:
From Press Release The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League have signed two pitchers who were formerly selected in the Major League Baseball draft. Jordan Harrison and Trae Davis will join the Generals pitching staff for the upcoming 2012 summer season.

“Jordan and Trae are both very talented pitchers that are already on the radar of MLB scouts,” commented Blake Koch, Victoria’s general manager. “Both guys have been drafted before and have a great shot at signing a professional contract one day.”

Jordan Harrison was selected in the 30th round of the 2009 MLB draft by the New York Mets following his senior year at New Caney High School.

Harrison is currently attending the University of Louisiana – Lafayette where he is 3-3 on the season with a 3.80 ERA. Harrison was recently named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week after throwing a complete-game one-hitter against Western Kentucky. Harrison has 43 strikeouts in 45 innings of work this season.

Harrison was a mid-season pickup for the Generals during the 2011 season. He appeared in 13 games and struck out 17 batters in 19 innings while posting a 1.42 ERA.

The 6’1”,180-pound lefty, played two seasons at North Central Texas College where he was named to the Texas/New Mexico JUCO All-Star Team.

“Jordan was a great mid-season pickup for us last year,” Koch stated. “He came in and really stabilized our bullpen. We’re looking forward to getting a full summer out of him this season.”

Trae Davis, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Baylor University was selected in the 29th round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Texas Rangers following his senior year at Mexia High School.

As a freshman, Davis pitched in 17 games for the Bears posting a 3-1 record with a 6.75 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 21.1 innings of work.

Davis has made seven appearances for Baylor this spring. He currently has a 4.35 ERA with four strikeouts in 10.1 innings.

Davis spent the 2011 summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Chatham Anglers.

“Trae is a very talented and athletic pitcher,” stated Koch. “He’ll benefit a great deal from getting to work with Coach Clemons all summer.”

The Generals home opener is on Sunday, June 3 at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium against the Acadiana Cane Cutters. Season tickets for all 30 of the Generals home games this season are on sale now. Feliz unable to solve sudden loss of control

Neftali Feliz turns 24 on Wednesday. He is still a young starting pitcher, prone to the problems that young starting pitchers encounter, and on his last day as a 23-year-old, Feliz encountered a problem he simply couldn't fix. Feliz lost command of his delivery in the third inning of the Texas Rangers' eventual 8-7 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Feliz knew what he was...

Mike Olt and Tyler Thornburg: Scouting the Unknown

Mike Olt | 3B, Rangers | Born: 8/27/1988 The Rangers are flush with high ceiling prospects. At every level you’ll find top-round draftees and highly touted Latin ballplayers, all of whom signed for big money. Perhaps the most glaring example of this impressive collection of youthful talent lies with Double-A Frisco, and more specifically, with the left side of the Roughriders’...

Rangers' Kinsler tops all other 2Bs

A decade ago, the question was enough to spark a barroom battle royal: Who's the best shortstop in baseball? Depending on the month and year, there were as many as four acceptable answers: Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Miguel Tejada and Nomar Garciaparra. (Since I'm certain the matter is unsettled in certain precincts, please note I listed those names in no particular order...

Rangers hope to get back on track vs. Indians

Since breaking a franchise mark involving series victories, the Texas Rangers have had trouble earning wins consistently. A series with the Cleveland Indians, the potential return of two top hitters to the lineup and another strong outing from Colby Lewis on Friday night might help them get back on track. Texas set a team record by winning its first six series this season but has...

FOX Regional Sports Networks Seeing 20% Increase in Ratings for MLB Over Last Year

Fueled largely by the Texas Rangers, FOX is showing strong ratings for the regional sports networks that they host with increases on 20 percent over last year at this time. Interest in Japanese pitching sensation Yu Darvish has been a large factor in the increases on FOX RSNs. FOX reports that four of his five starts have been on FOX Sports SW and have averaged a 9.1 rating, including...

Harrison struggles in series finale

Toronto might just be the new Detroit.  My boys are clearly not fond of playing there.  At the very least, they’re not fond of pitching there.  Neftali Feliz struggled on Tuesday night, and Matt Harrison found himself in similar trouble today. I didn’t get to see the game (11:30 a.m. games are hard to watch when you work), so I can’t speculate on what Harrison’s issue...
