San Francisco Giants
Ryan Vogelsong allowed three runs on six hits in six innings, leading the San Francisco Giants to a 9-3 win over the Chicago Cubs on Monday.
A dropped fly ball that turned into a run-scoring double and a two-out, two-run home run by Dioner Navarro were all the Cubs could muster against Vogelsong, who struck out three and walked two.
Vogelsong's last start of the spring will come Saturday against Oakland.
Buster Posey had three hits and drove in a run, Andres Torres and Joaquin Arias each doubled in two runs and Angel Pagan had two hits and two RBI for San Francisco.
George Kontos, Javier Lopez and Sergio Romo shut out the Cubs over the final three innings.
Left-hander Travis Wood started for the Cubs and gave up four runs on seven hits with four walks in four innings.

Matt Loosen retired the first ten men he faced and combined with three relievers to throw a four hitter and Jae-Hoon Ha reached base five times on two walks and three singles (including the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 9th), as the Tennessee Smokies edged the Midland RockHounds (Oakland Athletics AA affiliate) 4-3 on Field #2, and Barret Loux threw five shutout innings...
Darnell McDonald singled twice, doubled, walked, scored twice, and knocked-in a run, Taiwan Easterling singled, doubled, reached base on an HBP, and drove-in two runs, Jeffrey Baez drove-in three runs with a two-run double and a bases-loaded HBP, and Dan Vogelbach crushed a tape-measure two-run home run, leading the Daytona Cubs to a 10-7 victory over the Bakerfield Blaze (Cincinnati...
The San Francisco Giants have selected the contract of right-hander Chad Gaudin from the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies.
Gaudin, who turned 30 on Sunday, is 2-0 with a 2.81 ERA in nine spring training games, including two starts.
He was 4-2 with a 4.54 ERA in 46 games with Miami in 2013 and was signed by the Giants to a minor league contract on Dec. 13. He gets a contract that pays...
Buster Posey and Joaquin Arias collected three hits a piece, as the Giants defeated the Cubs 9-3 in Cactus League action this afternoon at Dwight Pattrerson Field at HoHoKam Park in Mesa, AZ.

San Francisco Giants pitcher, Barry Zito, recently hosted 75 guests, including MLB players and wounded soldiers, at an event at Frasher’s Steakhouse in Scottsdale. The event included dinner and a musical presentation. This year, the honored guests were U.S. Marines from the Wounded Warrior Battalion in San Diego, CA.
“They’re the real heroes,” Zito said. “These guys are...
The Chicago Cubs never expected Scott Baker to be ready when the 2013 season started but his availability is still unknown after the pitcher’s latest setback.
Baker is attempting to work his way back from Tommy John surgery.
There has been soreness all spring between Barker and his elbow but until now their was not a high level of concern. The Cubs plan to shut Baker down for a...
Marco Scutaro came up with a rare play, taking an extra base after a walk Tuesday as the San Francisco Giants beat the San Diego Padres 4-2.
Scutaro, the MVP of last year's NL championship series, drew a two-out walk in the third inning. He sprinted to first, then kept going and stole second.
Hunter Pence hit a two-run double that broke a tie in the fifth. The hit came off...
Today the rooftop association threw out a scare tactic (please don’t kill our business) press release. As a part of the press release, the rooftop owners graciously told the Chicago Cubs
Rooftops owners release counter offensive, saying Cubs can start rehab of clubhouses, restrooms w/o renegotiating landmark ordinance.

The Cubs are going to toss some guys on the disabled list to open the season and have trimmed the spring roster to 35. As of now there are a couple spots up for grabs: bench guy and bullpen guy. My best guess for bullpen guy is that it goes to lefty Hisanori Takahashi, who would be a complement to James Russell as the southpaw contingent of the pitching staff. As for bench...
Patrick Mooney posted this article late last night with some quotes from Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein. Most of the article deals with stuff we’ve addressed over the past year-plus of Theo’s tenure as head honcho, including the Cubs’ budget and the rebuilding project (both literal and figurative).
Theo recognizes the importance of Wrigley Field, which...
Johnny Cueto pitched six shutout innings in a smooth warmup for opening day and Todd Fraizer homered to send the Cincinnati Reds to an 11-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night.
Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija also had a good night in his final outing before the season opener. He gave up one run and five hits in five innings, striking out five.
Cueto had a hit in the third...
