The San Francisco Giants have activated right-handed reliever Santiago Casilla from the 15-day disabled list as he has finally recovered from surgery that had a cyst removed from his knee. He has not pitched since May 20th for the Giants, but does have a very solid 1.89 earned run average in 19 innings this year. In other news, San Francisco also recalled outfielder Jeff Francoeur from Triple-A Fresno. To make room for Casilla and Francoeur, the Giants optioned second baseman Nick Noonan and right-handed reliever Jean Machi to their Triple-A Fresno farm club. Hunter Pence diving catch preserves no-hitter

Tim Lincecum and his soul patch threw his first career no-hitter Saturday night against the Padres, but Lincecum is going to owe Hunter Pence dinner or naming rights to his first born or something after Pence made a remarkable diving grab to end the eighth and keep the no-no in tact. Lincecum also got some nifty help from Pablo Sandoval an inning earlier. It’s the Giants’ 14th...

A Toast To Lincecum

First of all…Tim Lincecum, I want to say Congratulations…and Thank You.  I know that the relationship between you and the fans hasn’t been so clean the last couple of seasons, but we are still rooting for you, and we appreciate that you are still working on your art and craft, and doing it so that Giants fans can appreciate it, rather than some who don’t, and wait until...

Report: Tigers interested in acquiring Tim Lincecum

The Detroit Tigers have interest in acquiring San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Tim Lincecum as a reliever, reports FoxSports.com. Lincecum has won two Cy Young Awards and two World Series rings.  Now he has a no-hitter in which he threw a career-high 148 pitches, second most thrown in a no-hitter since Edwin Jackson threw 149 pitches in 2010. Lincecum, 29, pitched his first...

San Francisco Giants – Mid-Season Report Card

Team:  San Francisco Giants Record: 43-51 (6.5 GB) Biggest Surprise of 1st Half: The biggest surprise of the 1st half is obviously how poorly the Giants have played the past couple of months, playing themselves out of 1st place and into 4th in the NL West division.  But if I had to choose a player, it would be Giants second basemen Marco Scutaro.  Since being traded to the Giants...

San Francisco Designates Chris Heston For Assignment

Right-handed starter Chris Heston has been designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for outfielder Jeff Francoeur. Heston, who was struggling mightily at the AAA level, had a 5.80 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in 19 starts. To keep Heston in the organization, he will have to clear waivers. Something that appears likely given his struggles. The post San Francisco Designates...

Tim Lincecum Gets His Groove Back; Pitches First Career No-Hitter

What a long strange trip it has been for San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum. At one time he appeared like he was set to be the next G.O.A.T. Than he seemed to lose his mojo and became a mere mortal like the rest of the us. But not Saturday night. It may have taken him 148 pitches, but the man tossed his first career no-hitter. Oh--and he had 13 strikeouts to boot...

Tim Lincecum's No-Hitter Gives Giant Management A Rare Opportunity

When the San Francisco Giants won two games in a row last week against the struggling San Diego Padres, a glimmer of hope seemed to appear amid the nightmare of the 2013 season. Then San Francisco Giants starter Tim Lincecum threw the 15th no hitter in Giants' franchise history Saturday against the Padres and fans flooded the local sports talk radio airwaves with the news...

Hot or Not: Aces stay hot, bats get cold

Madison Bumgarner – Hot This was an easy choice for the hottest player on the Giants. Why? Well, the team is playing awful right now. So finding a player playing well is easy in a sea of terrible. In a stretch where the Giants are 5 – 14, Bumgarner is the reason for three of those wins, shutting down the Rockies, Dodgers and Padres. In fact, in his last six starts, Bumgarner...

The Shameful Melancholy of Tim Lincecum's No-Hitter

Despite Brian Kenny's protestations, a no-hitter is still an event to get excited about, like Christmas morning even after you know Santa Claus isn't coming. The combination of talent meeting luck, as an entire team is stymied by the pitcher and nine men who, for one day, are positioned in just the right way so no hard liners, bloop singles, or slow rollers can find safe...

Tigers could be interested in San Francisco’s Tim Lincecum

The Tigers’ bullpen has been serviceable as of late with Joaquin Benoit taking over the closers role while Drew Smyly has been murdering left handed hitters while taking on the 7th and 8th innings. The jury is still out on Bruce Rondon and whether or not he’ll eventually come around but despite things being somewhat quiet for the Tigers in terms of the bullpen there’s still...
