San Francisco Giants shortstop Marco Scutaro has been
diagnosed with a left hip muscle strain and is expected to play in Game 3 of
the National League Championship Series, reports Janie McCauley of the

Scutaro sustained his injury during the first inning of Game 2 of the NLCS when he was taken out by a hard slide by St. Louis Cardinals
outfielder Matt Holliday. The infielder was able to remain in the game but did ultimately
exit in the 6th inning.
Many, including several Giants’ players and coaches, felt
the slide was dirty as Holliday went over the bag to get to Scutaro and break
up the double play. Manager Bruce Bochy said there’s a “good chance” Scutaro
plays in tonight’s game.
