Giants-general-manager
The Giants bring back Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy, while they try to re-sign Marco Scutaro. With the hot stove heating up for the Giants this offseason, they did make a big move today by picking up Bruce Bochy and Brian Sabean’s 2013 option. Bochy has managed the Giants for the past six seasons and holds a 503-469 record. He led the team with a well-managed bullpen in both the 2010 and 2012 playoff runs resulting in World Series wins. Sabean is also a big part of where the Giants stand today with the key additions he brought into the organization over the last 13 years. His famous trade in 1996 brought in Jeff Kent, who then when on to win the MVP and become one of the best hitting second basemen in baseball. Sabean is also responsible for picking up postseason heroes Pat Burrell and Marco Scutaro in 2010 and 2012, respectively. Speaking of Scutaro, according to Andrew Baggarly of CSN Bay Area, the Giants have offered him a two-year deal with a third year option. The 36-year-old was on fire in the 77 games as a Giant in 2012, hitting .362/.385/.473 in the 61 regular season games. Scutaro also won the NLCS MVP award last season with a 14 for 28 performance and four RBI. He made $6 million dollars last year after being traded from Colorado on July 27. Some speculate he will ask for a three-year $24 million deal, others think he will make less.
