Major League Baseball has pushed back the suspensions of outfielders Jose Guillen of Kansas City and Jay Gibbons of Baltimore 10 days while negotiations with the MLBPA continue. This could be a precurssor to the suspensions being dropped altogether.
Gibbons is owed $11.9 million over the next two years from the Orioles despite offering next to nothing for the team.
He has played less then 90 games each of the last two seasons and considering his lack of home runs some would wonder if he even knew how to properly use steroids. Gibbons hit just 19 home runs and drove in just 74 runs over the last two years in 613 at-bats.
Gibbons will sit on the bench most of the time this year and make an occasional start in corner outfield, DH or first base for the Orioles.
In his 7 year career Gibbons has played in 779 games hitting .260 with 121 home runs.
