Found August 23, 2012 on The Baseball Page:
This weekend when I heard on the news that pitching great Roger Clemens signed a contract with the "Sugar Land Skeeters" I didn't pay much attention. I figured it was to appear in some commercials to sell more "skeeters." A candy product like M & M's. Until I read this mornings paper and found out the "Skeeters" were a minor-league baseball team in the independent Atlantic League in Texas and that Clemens had signed a contract to pitch for them this coming Saturday night against the Bridgeport, Connecticut Bluefish on the "Skeeters" home field. Clemens is 50. He hasn't pitched since 2007. Some believe his return to the minor-leagues is the first step to another comeback in the major leagues. Clemens said "thinking" about a big league comeback is "premature." Is this the "Rocket's" way of leaving the door open for a ML comeback? His signal to ML executives and scouts, "He...

Roger Clemens brings it in bullpen session

You may have heard that at the age of 50, Roger Clemens is making a comeback in the world of professional baseball. Granted, it’s not for an MLB team, but it is for Texas’ Sugar Land Skeeters, a pro ball outfit based in conveniently, Sugar Land, which apparently is just outside of Houston, where I [...]

MLB: Roger Clemens coming back? 50-year-old to pitch for Sugar Land Skeeters

(PhatzRadio / USA Today) — The last time he attempted a pitching comeback, Roger Clemens was amply compensated monetarily but found little reward on the field. Now he’s seeking that satisfaction with little immediate financial incentive. Clemens, 50, who last pitched in the majors with the New York Yankees in 2007, will return to the mound Saturday night when...

Bill 'Spaceman' Lee pitches complete game at age 65

Roger Clemens pitching at age 50 has nothing over Bill "Spaceman" Lee's latest gig.  The former Red Sox and Expos lefthander, one of baseball's all-time great characters, became the oldest pitcher to ever win a game after he threw a complete game victory for the San Rafael Pacifics of the independent North American League.  And it wasn't a publicity stunt...

DeFrancesco would welcome Clemens

By MIKE FITZPATRICK AP Sports Writer NEW YORK (AP) -- If the struggling Houston Astros want to bring back Roger Clemens, interim manager Tony DeFrancesco would welcome the 50-year-old pitcher into his inexperienced clubhouse.
