San Diego Padres catcher Gregg Zaun is set to announce his retirement from baseball on Monday, Sportsnet.ca reports.

Zaun signed a Minor League contract with the Padres in mid-January.  He was expected to compete for a backup catching job with Rob Johnson and Guillermo Quiroz.
