Josh Hamilton may still be a free agent, but he did join one team this week. Relativity Media has secured the rights to the feature film about the Texas Rangers outfielder's life — which will be directed and written by Casey Affleck, according to deadline.com. The report says that Relativity Media — producers of films like "Shark Night 3D" and "HOP" — also has the rights to Hamilton's biography, "Beyond Belief: Finding the Strength to Come Back," which the slugger co-authored with Tim McKeown. The film will be based on the Tampa Bay Rays' former overall #1 draft pick's career which has been a combination of brilliance on the diamond tainted with alcohol and drug addiction off the field. The film will be tinged with the 31-year-old Hamilton's strong Christian faith and love of his wife, Katie. After wowing fans with his performance in the Home Run Derby at the All-star game at Yankee Stadium in 2008, Hamilton went on to become the American League MVP in 2010 and helped the Rangers make consecutive World Series in 2010 and 2011. Affleck — an Academy Award nominee and brother of Red Sox fanatic Ben— will helm the flick with Hamilton and his wife co-producing with business manager Steve Reed.  The couple said they would be "an integral part of the film's creative direction and accuracy as the project develops." It seems like Hamilton's baseball life and religious convictions would attract little interest outside of Texas unless it's a modern version of "The Natural" mixed with a little "North Dallas Forty." But a boring sounding movie premise about computers and baseball did work out pretty well for "Moneyball," didn't it? One suggestion for casting — Will Ferrell.  Too obvious?
