The Miami Marlins' bullpen is a crowded place these days with 10 relief pitchers eager for action. But manager Ozzie Guillen said he won't use his reliever just to cure their boredom.

"Too bad," he said. "This is not spring training for me. I still get paid to win games and we are going to win as many games as we can."

The Marlins are using a six-man rotation, which does not include Carlos Zambrano. Zambrano said he has asked Guillen for one more start before the season ends, but Zambrano said he does not expect that to happen.

Up until Friday night, Zambrano had pitched well in relief -- going 2-0 with a 2.35 ERA in 12 relief appearances since being moved to the bullpen on Aug. 1. But in the seventh inning, he faced three batters and didn't retire any.

He was charged with three runs, boosting his ERA as a reliever to 4.12.

He started the season 5-9 with a 4.54 ERA in 20 starts. As a starter he posted a 7.23 ERA in five June starts and a 5.67 ERA in six July games.

"We did not put him in the bullpen because we're crazy. He created that. I don't think he is blaming anybody," Guillen said. "I know it's not easy for me the coaching staff and front office people to put this kid in the bullpen when he is Carlos Zambrano. But you look at the big picture -- you put yourself in the bullpen."

Zambrano said he wants to return to the Marlins next year but only as a starter.

"It doesn't matter if I have to win a spot in the rotation. I want to come back. I believe in this team," he said.
