ATLANTA (AP) -- The Miami Marlins are moving Carlos Zambrano to the bullpen. Manager Ozzie Guillen said Monday that left-hander Wade LeBlanc, who has worked only in relief this season, will take Zambrano's spot in the rotation on Wednesday night against the Atlanta Braves. LeBlanc is 1-1 with a 1.15 ERA. He was 17-21 with a 4.47 ERA in 52 career starts the past four years with San Diego. Zambrano is 5-9 with a 4.54 ERA. He gave up five runs, four earned, in five-plus innings of a loss to the Padres on Friday night. Zambrano was strong through five innings before collapsing in the sixth. He has a 6.91 ERA in his last three starts. Guillen says Zambrano was "disappointed" and "embarrassed" but "is taking it the right way."

Carlos Zambrano To The Bullpen

The honeymoon is over for the Miami Marlins and Carlos Zambrano. Big-Z may have gotten off to a great start in Miami, but a recent swoon, in which he has given up 35 earned runs in his last 41.1 innings, has put the 31-year-old pitcher back in the bullpen. The Chicago Cubs used the same approach in 2010, after Zambrano got off to a poor start. The experiment lasted just 16.2 innings...

Player Behavior

I don't know how many times I've said I don't care about the players in any other way than their performance. Over the years I have stressed this so many times I've lost count. One of the reasons why I wrote each year about how good Carlos Zambrano has been in his career was to point out that all that matters to me is their performance. I don't care about the...
