(via MLB) After allowing 9 runs in just two innings, the Phillies ace has finally come clean. Roy Halladay told the media about his shoulder discomfort after the loss on Sunday. “I woke up, didn't really think anything of it, just regular soreness, it just kind of progressed over the last two weeks or so. It's right shoulder discomfort. I’m going to have it looked at here in the next few days, and once we get information from that we'll obviously let people know what's going on, but it's not something that I had before. It's something new this year.“I felt good all spring, felt good all year, I just got up after that start in Pittsburgh and had soreness and just wasn't able to get rid of it. Like I said, we'll go to L.A, I think, and get it checked out, do some scans, get [the real doctor] to look at it and update you guys from there.“But that's really all I have. We don't have a lot of information on it. We did some tests and obviously they are not completely conclusive as to what it is. There's a couple of different options and the scans, MRIs, CTs, that kind of stuff will give us more information from there and we'll address it then. But as far as moving forward, I really don't have too much for you. We'll see how it plays out in the next few days. As soon as I can get in to see him we'll get that done and try to get you guys information as soon as we can.”

What Should The Phillies Do About Roy Halladay?

Roy Halladay has been a completely different pitcher for the Phillies this season. His record his 2-4. His ERA is 8.65 which is the worst in the National League and the second worst in baseball. This is something the Phillies are not used to. In yesterday’s game against the Marlins, Halladay couldn’t get through the third inning. He gave up nine runs on only four hits. This didn’t look...

Phillies place Halladay on DL with shoulder inflammation

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Roy Halladay has been placed on the disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder. Halladay has been dealing with discomfort in his shoulder since his April 24 start against the Pirates but did not inform the Phillies of any problems until after Sunday’s outing. On Sunday Halladay allowed nine runs in 2 1/3 innings raising his ERA...

Nightmare season for Roy Halladay continues with DL stint

Roy Halladay has been a topic of conversation (and concern) for the Phillies since spring training. Now, the soon-to-be 36-year-old has landed on the disabled list with an unspecificed right shoulder injury. After a rocky start to the season -- 12 earned runs in a combined 7.1 innings in his first two starts -- Halladay rebounded to put together a strong three-start stretch in...

Roy Halladay has discomfort in his right shoulder and the struggling Philadelphia Phillies pitcher is headed to Los Angeles for tests. Halladay was roughed up Sunday by the Miami Marlins in a 14-2 defeat, his second poor outing in a row. After the game, the two-time Cy Young Award winner acknowledged he has been pitching with a sore shoulder. He said he will be examined this week...

Phillies Place Roy Halladay On The Disabled List, With Shoulder Injury

This shouldn’t come as much of a shocker, but struggling ace Roy Halladay has finally been placed on the disabled list, with what the Phillies are calling right shoulder inflammation. The 2 time Cy Young winner was placed on the 15-day disabled list after he gave up a whopping 9 runs to the lifeless Marlins on Sunday. After the game, Halladay admitted to having pain since April...

Philadelphia Phillies storyline: New toe on the rubber

On the surface it doesn’t appear to be a major issue short term for the Philadelphia Phillies, who can promote another young gun, like Jonathan Pettibone. What, firstly, is at Triple-A Lehigh Valley? Philadelphia Phillies: Roy Halladay to have shoulder examined

After two more bad starts, including his most recent in a 14-2 shellacking by the hapless Miami Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies ace Roy Halladay is getting his right shoulder examined in Los Angeles. After the game, Halladay admitted his shoulder had been hurting since April 24. His two subsequent starts were, shall we say, ineffective. Halladay is 2-3 this season with a 6.75 ERA...

Oh, Doctor

It was supposed to be an easy series win, maybe even a sweep for the Phillies. It was supposed to be a redemption start for Roy Halladay, who got shellacked in his last start in Cleveland. It was neither of those things. What it was, was painful. Doc walked the very first hitter he faced [...]

The Rise of Phillies Pitcher Kyle Kendrick: From Tim Hudson, Roy Halladay, To Respect

I was at Kyle Kendrick's Major League Debut. It was an afternoon interleague series against the Chicago White Sox in 2007. This was Jim Thome's first appearance in town after being traded by the Phillies after the 2005 season. Big-name acquisition Freddy Garcia was shut down with an injury and...

Injuries won't force Phils to push Biddle

With both John Lannan and Roy Halladay going down with injuries, the domino effect is opening some holes in the minor league system. Those holes though won't pressure the Phillies into pushing Jesse Biddle.
