Found July 26, 2013 on Reading Between The Seams:

courtesy of With all the talk of rookie sensation Yasiel Puig this season the real catalyst for the Dodger success is LA shortstop Hanley Ramirez.  He is the unsung hero for the National League West division leaders.  Dodgers are 17 and 5 in their last 22 ballgames and leading the division by a half game.  It all starts with the team’s best player, Hanley Ramirez. On Thursday night he pulled a fast one on Cincinnati Reds Shin-Soo Choo. With Choo on first base and Joey Votto at the plate, Votto sends a ball softly to center field for a base hit.  Choo makes it to second with the slide but for some reason he thought Hanley beat him to the bag .  Watch what happens next. courtesty of Complete meltdown!  Don’t you just love Vince Scully?  Needless to say Shin-Soo was called out. Joey Votto tried yelling at Choo to stay at second but it was too late.  Luckily the Reds won the game 5-2 and everyone can about it. Here is the tweet that involved the play. “They ought to give the #Dodgers Hanley Ramirez an Oscar or at least an Emmy.” -Vin Scully — Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) July 26, 2013   Follow us on Twitter LeRoy McConnell III@kcmac38 Follow us on Twitter @rbts_baseball Part of the Sports Kings (@realsportskings) network The post Hanley Ramirez cons Shin-Soo Choo out of second base appeared first on Reading Between The Seams.

Dodgers designate Lilly for assignment, recall Herrera

LOS ANGELES The Dodgers designated pitcher Ted Lilly for assignment Thursday, a move they preferred not to make but felt they were forced to. Lilly, who was activated from the disabled list on Wednesday, refused the teams request to pitch in the minors, so the Dodgers essentially let him go. Hes likely to be picked up on waivers by another team or become a free agent. To take...

Q&A: Logan White, Dodgers’ VP Of Amateur Scouting

Logan White, the Dodgers‘ Vice President Of Amateur Scouting, was kind enough to give me 20 minutes of his time to talk about the farm system and draft. If you want to hear White actually speak, check out the latest episode of “Dugout Blues“. —– I looked at the draft this year and you kind of had a more college-focused approach this year. Is there any reason for that? Logan...

Mike Leake notches 10th win in unique fashion

Mike Leake improved his season record to a team-best 10-4 on Wednesday as the Reds turned away the Giants, 8-3, at AT&T Park. However, the manner in which Leake emerged victorious is somewhat unique. Leake won the game in spite of allowing a whopping 12 hits in six innings of work. The 25-year-old became the first pitcher since Marlins right-hander Ricky Nolasco in...

Kemp lands on DL for third time this season

The Dodgers Wednesday placed Matt Kemp on the 15-day disabled list for the third time this season and activated pitcher Ted Lilly from the DL for the third time. Kemp sprained his left ankle on an awkward slide into home on Sunday against the Nationals. The swelling and discomfort showed little improvement over the past three days leaving the club uncertain how long Kemp will be...

Yasiel Puig is Rolling again, and the Dodgers are on Fire

The Dodgers were down to their final out tonight when Andre Ethier hit a sinking liner to center fielder Colby Rasmus. The ball skipped off the Toronto turf and rolled a ways, allowing Yasiel Puig to scamper home and tie the game at 3-3 off Blue Jays closer Casey Jannsen. The Dodgers would score five more runs in the top of the 10th inning to win the game 8-3. The crowning moment...

Ryan Ludwick Ryan Ludwick was sent out on rehab assignment with the class A Dayton Dragons yesterday while they played the Lansing Lugnuts. Ludwick was the DH and had three plate appearances. He popped out, walked, and singled. Nice that he’s trying out all the possibilities. Perhaps tonight he could try out that home run muscle. Ludwick has been out of the major league line-up...

Now a pitcher on the Los Angeles Dodgers there was no shortage of slams directed at the Brewers outfielder who has been suspended for the remainder of the 2013 season. Greinke called Braun a liar and a user in an interview with the Los Angeles Times: “The main thing is, yeah, he lied to us,” Greinke...
