All-Star shortstop Hanley Ramirez is almost ready to return for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ramirez started the final stage of his rehab from a hamstring injury on Friday night, when he played for the Class-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. MLB.com's Steven Lynch called the game 'uneventful but encouraging' for the 29-year-old, who did not record a hit but did walk during his six-inning appearance. Fatigue was the only thing Ramirez had to complain about after the game: "I'm tired but I feel good," Ramirez said. "There wasn't any pain or nothing like that. I couldn't get on base but let's see tomorrow." Lynch also reports that Ramirez looked good in the field, making a particularly athletic play on a ground ball in the second inning with no problems. He also had to run hard to first base on an RBI groundout and showed no discomfort in the hamstring. The Dodgers expect to keep Ramirez on the assignment all weekend and he is keen to show that his leg is fully healed so he can get back to the majors. "I'm here to test the leg and see how it responds after four weeks [of not playing]," Ramirez said. "Try to to run hard and everything will go well and I can go back to L.A. The completed rehab game will be a relief for the Dodgers, who were looking for Ramirez to be a cornerstone of their team but have only seen him play four games for them this season as he has spent almost all of it on the DL: first with a torn ligament in his thumb, then the hamstring strain, sustained only three games after his return. Ramirez did admit that his thumb is not yet fully healed, but said it was not going to stop him from playing. Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?
