Found March 10, 2009 on Another Cubs Blog:
This is one of two brief posts coming this morning about Rich Harden. I thought I?d start with Gordon Whittenmeyer?s article. MESA, Ariz. - Hey, Rich, what?s with the shoulder? Where?s the tear? How?s the strength? How many starts can you make this year? When do you pitch next? Do you need a cortisone shot? Extra rest? How do you feel? How do you feel? How do you feel? For Cubs pitcher Rich Harden, it?s like an echo that won?t go away, ringing in his ears the last few seasons, the constant irritant lingering from the injuries that limited him to an average of 11 starts from 2005 to ?07. There?s a reason the echo won?t go away and as ridiculous as Gordo is, even he knows this. After all, he?s part of the chorus asking questions that have been asked 30 minutes earlier while he was in the same room as the other who asked it. I thought Harden?s response was interesting. ??With the work I?ve put in here and how I?m feeling,?? Harden said, ??I want to know the work has paid off and put in a whole season. ??And hopefully shut some people up, too. I get tired of hearing some stuff.?? There you have it. Rich Harden wants to shut the media up. He said it. It came out of his mouth. Word for word. Well, he didn?t say media, but we all know who ?some people? are, don?t we? I think we all understand Harden?s desire here. So how is it that some people don?t understand Milton Bradley?s desire to not be asked the same question over and over and over? How is it that Rich Harden is getting off easy while essentially being hostile toward the media while Milton Bradley isn?t getting off easy for the remarks he?s made? How is it that the fans won?t say a word about why Rich Harden should just shut up and play, but say that for Milton Bradley?
