On a frigid Tuesday in Denver when the temperature only reached a chilly 30 degrees at Coors Field, B.J. Upton and Justin Upton hit back-to-back home runs for the Atlanta Braves in the top of 5th inning during the team’s romp over the host Colorado Rockies. In doing so, the Upton brothers became the 27th sibling tandem to hit home runs in the same game but only the second brother combination to do so in consecutive at-bats since, the only other occasion being when Hall of Famers Lloyd and Paul Waner accomplished the same feat as members of the 1938 Pittsburgh Pirates. This is the third time this season the Upton brothers have homered in the same game. Both of the brothers’ homers came off Rockies starter John Garland as Atlanta easily handled Colorado, walking away with a 10-2 win, completing the sweep of Tuesday’s doubleheader. Via MLB.com: For younger brother Justin, 25, it was his Major League-leading 11th home run on the season. He joked about his elder sibling B.J., 28, following the game, “I’m a mean little brother,” Justin said. “It’s always cool when you can see him have success before you and then you go and do the same thing. It was definitely cool, and for us to tack on those runs we needed, it was nice.” TweetThe post He ain’t heavy: Upton brothers hit back-to-back homers in Braves win (video) appeared first on Sportress of Blogitude.
