The Outside Corner:
It looks like this video is from either Friday or Saturday night in Oakland during their ALDS game with the Tigers. Watch in horror as this (probably) drunk A's fan decides to fight numerous cops and stadium security personnel, ending with him taking a shot from a taser to the back and being escorted away from his seat. All in a day's work, folks. (Apologies for the vertically shot video. That might be the real crime here.) [Deadspin] [follow]

First, let me express my extreme displeasure with the individual who shot the video. TURN YOUR PHONE! Okay, what you see here is an Oakland A’s fan, who, perhaps had too much to drink while attending the Game 2 ALDS…Read more →
Stephen Vogt with walk-off hit
The Oakland Athletics were down one going into Saturday’s game and needed to pull out a win so they did not fall deeper into the hole. Pitcher Bartolo Colon allowed three errors and ten hits, the A’s lineup struck out 16 times, and they only were able to get three hits off of Detroit Tiger ace Max Scherzer.
For game two, it was time to turn things...
Josh Donaldson, the potential AL MVP candidate this year for the Oakland Athletics, is the spark this offense needs to really get going but he has been virtually useless in this series. Almost the entire team has done nothing. The 2-3-4 hitters have gone 2-22 with 13 strike outs. The 6-7-8-9 hitters have gone 5-27 with 1 strike outs. The only two players that have had...
The narrative concerning Josh Donaldson has been established for the moment. He was a piece in the deal that sent Rich Harden from Oakland to Chicago in July of 2008. He was converted to third base from catcher gradually between 2009 and -12, taking up the former position in a full-time capacity at some point in 2012. Generally speaking, he demonstrated some promising offensive and...
Grant Balfour and the Oakland Athletics aren't making many new friends in the Motor City.
That's fine with Balfour, the high-strung Oakland reliever who nearly came face to face with Detroit's Victor Martinez while closing out the Tigers in Game 3 to send the defending AL champions to the brink of elimination.
Brandon Moss, Josh Reddick and Seth Smith homered for the...
Oakland, CA —
The Oakland Athletics loaded the bases in the 9th inning and Stephen Vogt hit a walk off single to score Yoenis Cespedes to even up their American League Division Series with the Tigers, 1-0.
It was a pitching duel from the get go, with Sonny Gray and Justin Verlander becoming the first pair of starting pitchers to each throw 9+ strikeouts and not allow an earned...
The A's got the win they desperately needed on Saturday night. After eight and a half scoreless innings Stephen Vogt broke the deadlock with a bases loaded walk-off hit to send the ALDS to Detroit tied at one game apiece.
Rookie Sonny Gray looked like a grizzled veteran on Saturday night striking out nine batters over eight innings and holding the Tigers scoreless in his postseason debut.
I love stuff like this. Just complete testosterone dominating the baseball diamond.
Look at me for too long – **** you.
Stare in my direction – **** you.
Team is up 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th – **** you.
Oakland A’s closer Grant Balfour had a pitch fouled off by the Tigers’ Victor Martinez. Martinez looked back at Balfour for a little too long which promoted Balfour...
The American League Division Series between the Oakland A’s and Detroit Tigers will end Tuesday in Detroit. The best-of-five series will come to a close with a Game 4 win from the A’s, and they will advance to the American League Championship Series.
That’s how their owner, Len Wolff, sees it playing out at least. Wolff has predicted a Game 4 win, which will be played Tuesday...
Stephen Vogt hit .252 during the regular season for the Oakland Athletics. But if the A's beat the Tigers in the ALDS and advance through the postseason, it's very possible no A's fan is going to remember that. They could very well speak fondly of the second-year catcher's feats of athleticism in Oakland's Game 2 victory over Detroit.
The Oakland Athletics have beaten Detroit with both pitching and power. And that's left the Tigers on the brink of elimination -- and simmering with frustration.
Brandon Moss, Josh Reddick and Seth Smith homered for the Athletics, who chased Anibal Sanchez in the fifth inning Monday and defeated the Tigers 6-3 for a 2-1 AL division series lead.
Moss broke a 3-all tie in the...
OAKLAND, Calif. — In a crucial Game 2 after falling to the Detroit Tigers in Game 1, the Oakland Athletics sent out 23-year old rookie Sonny Gray to the mound against the former AL Cy Young and MVP winner Justin Verlander. Gray did not disappoint, pitching eight shutout innings, and the Athletics walked off in […]
The Oakland Athletics walked off against the Detroit Tigers in the bottom of the 9th Saturday, winning 1-0 on a Stephen Vogt bases-loaded single. The win tied the A’s with the Tigers in the ALDS at one game apiece with Game 3 coming Monday in Detroit.
Tigers starter, Justin Verlander, went 7 innings and struck out 11 while giving up only four hits. Matching that effort was...
