ATLANTA There are days when everything is so effortless, days when Jason Heyward makes baseball look so easy.
His swing, power, speed, defense and amazingly strong arm work in perfect harmony on those days. His immense skill set makes you think Heyward can do no wrong.
Thats when its tough to realize that he just turned 23 years old, that he still has much to learn, that his talents, as tremendous as they might be, still need to be refined.
Hes not a finished product by any means of the imagination, Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said.
And weve seen that on occasion this season, those moments when Heyward has loafed after a ball rolling through the outfield grass in right field or when he swings and misses at pitches he has no chance at hitting or when he loses fly balls in the sun.

Heyward has made amazing strides this season, especially after a 2011 racked by injuries and regression and being cal...

ATLANTA Kris Medlen isnt sure what hes going to do with the Braves lineup cards that are beginning to accumulate in his office.
He was given the official one from his first big-league victory in 2009 and another from his first career save, which was earlier this season.
Manager Fredi Gonzalez handed Medlen another lineup card, which is posted in the dugout during games and awarded...

Through the whole course of baseball history, several thousand players have managed to bat at least 200 times. An enterprising position player might reach that mark in less than two months. Given that minimum, nobody’s been a better hitter, relative to the rest of the league, than Babe Ruth, who had a career wRC+ of 197. All right, not learning a whole lot so far. Given that minimum...
If anyone would have told Braves fans that they would drop back-to-back series against the Dodgers and Nationals, few would have believed that after the incredible offense that showed up against the Mets and Padres. However, it happened and it’s time for the Braves to move on and look to a series by the Bay to turn things around.
Though pitching wasn’t terrible, the highlight...

Oh, well, Nats dropped a tough one last night to the Braves on Chipper Jones Appreciation Night at Nationals Park. No sweep, no worries? Well, at the very least nobody got hurt (especially Ian Desmond and his hammy).
Meanwhile, Bryce Harper achieved another Big League first last night: He swore not once, but twice in his postgame interview. Two s-bombs for Harper!

The game ended with runners on the corners and one out, but Dan Uggla couldn’t get the ball out of his glove on an infield single to drop the Braves...
Though the Atlanta Braves have enjoyed some recent success in San Francisco, they understand their key four-game series against the surging Giants won't be an easy one.
While the Braves try for a fifth consecutive win at AT&T Park, Barry Zito looks to continue his career success against them and help the NL West-leading Giants to a fourth straight victory overall Thursday...
