CHICAGO (AP) -- Derek Holland pitched seven shutout innings, Adrian Beltre hit a two-run home run, and Craig Gentry made a diving catch in the ninth to end the game and preserve the Texas Rangers' 4-2 win over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night at a cold Wrigley Field.
Holland (1-1) at one point retired nine straight against the Cubs, who have lost three straight games. The Rangers left-hander struck out six and allowed two hits.
Beltre's home run off Cubs reliever Shawn Camp was his second of the year and gave the Rangers a 4-0 lead in the eighth. Chicago starter Travis Wood (1-1) walked Ian Kinsler and was then relieved by Camp, who allowed Elvis Andrus to single to right before throwing a pickoff attempt away, allowing Kinsler to score and make it 2-0.
Jeff Baker, who was with the Cubs from 2009-2012, was 2-for-4 and had an RBI double in the fourth to give Texas a 1-0 lead. The Rangers had scored 11 runs in their previous five games.

Generally speaking, I'm of the notion that the loss of a starting pitcher for anything less than a couple months does not have that large an impact on a team. However, if that starting pitcher is the missing piece that can turn a rotation from being top-five in the league to number one overall, things change. Neftali Feliz has been on the disabled list since the start of...
Rangers veteran Lance Berkman went on a bizarre rant against nearly every baseball purist’s version of baseball heaven–Wrigley Field.
What exactly is Berkman’s beef with the stadium is a bit of a mystery, but it’s clear he’s got something against the place. As reported by Yahoo Sports when reporters asked the long time former Astro what it meant to play in Wrigley...
Lance Berkman doesn't like to bite his tongue and many enjoy that aspect of the opinionated Texas Rangers designated hitter. However, many can easily become annoyed by Berkman's words.
After reading Berkman's comments from Monday, it's unlikely that he's going to win over any Chicago Cubs fans.

The Rangers begin a series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Tuesday and DH Lance Berkman didn't mince words when providing his thoughts on the stadium.
Wrigley Field may be one of the most historic ballparks in North America, but Texas Rangers designated hitter Lance Berkman hardly cares for the nostalgia. The Rangers are beginning a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, and Berkman has made it clear that he is not looking forward to the visit.
“If they’re looking for a guy to push the button when they blow...
Texas Rangers designated hitter Lance Berkman spent parts of 12 seasons as a member of the Houston Astros, as well as two seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals so the veteran has had abundant experience playing baseball against the Chicago Cubs in the historic environs that is Wrigley Field. With the Rangers paying a visit to the legendary venue for the first time since 2002 for a...
Another day has come and gone and yet fans of both the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals are still talking about the possibility of trading Jurickson Profar for Oscar Taveras. This rumor first came to light via the internet a few days ago and has yet to be extinguished by either team. As Rangers fans collectively hold their breath, hoping that they do not decide to trade...

The Texas Rangers are getting excellent production from their pitchers.
That's certainly not the case at the plate, and they may be without their leading hitter for the next few games.
With Lance Berkman expected to be relegated to the bench during interleague play, the Rangers open a three-game series Tuesday night against the Chicago Cubs.
