St. Louis Cardinals

Sorry I haven't done the past two Homestanders. For one, I've been very busy with totally important journalism stuff. But mostly I've just really struggled to care about the Milwaukee Brewers right now. That's a tough thing to admit, since baseball and, specifically, the Brewers are among the dozen or so things I actually care about in this largely disappointing letdown people call life. Still, I don't care. I haven't watched a full game since August. Since I failed to make my fantasy league's playoffs a few weeks back, I stopped looking at Jean Segura...

As the unsatisfactory 2013 Brewers season winds down, it’s easy for fans to engage in wild speculation about the way forward. Several factors have contributed to this year’s disappointing results – Ryan Braun’s suspension, injuries to just about everyone, the starting rotation’s early ineffectiveness, a revolving door at the first...
(Good guys win!)
Even though I have lived in Milwaukee most of my life and Chicago isn’t that far away, I had never seen a game at Wrigley Field until this past weekend. It seems like most Brewers fans who have made the trip report the stadium itself is rubbish, but at least it’s in a nice part of town. I vaguely recall going to see bands at the Metro a couple times...
Many have tried without much luck to point to a reason why Tyler Thornburg has quickly gone from a struggling Triple-A pitcher to a consistent major-league starting pitcher.
Somehow the same pitcher who was 0-9 with a 5.79 ERA in 15 Triple-A starts has flourished in his opportunity in the big leagues. Thornburg continued the trend Thursday by allowing two runs over six innings to...
Turned to again in a late game situation, Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Michael Gonzalez couldn't get the job done. The veteran's late-season struggles continued to climb toward rock bottom with another dismal performance in Milwaukee's 5-1 loss to St. Louis.
The Brewers wasted a strong performance from a starting pitcher for the second straight night, leaving manager...
After an inauspicious start, the St. Louis Cardinals picked up where they left off following a crucial weekend sweep, knocking off the Milwaukee Brewers at home Tuesday.
They'll likely need Lance Lynn to turn around his recent struggles in order to defeat the Brewers again Wednesday night, which would mark their first five-game winning streak since early July.
The Cardinals ...
MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers will open the 2014 campaign with a three-game home series against the Atlanta Braves beginning on March 31, as Major League Baseball announced its 2014 schedule Tuesday.
The Brewers and the rest of the National League Central are paired with the American League East for interleague play. Milwaukee will jump into interleague play early in the season...
Ron Roenicke made the decision to start Sean Halton at first base tonight and the decision paid off in the biggest way possible. Halton drove in 3 of the Brewers' five runs tonight 1 in the 2nd on a single scoring Logan Schafer and 2 in the 4th on a two-run home run his first since his first stint with the team in July.
Tyler Thornburg didn't take a no-hitter farther than...
Milwaukee Brewers rookie Tyler Thornburg found himself in the middle of a pennant race Thursday night, even though it was only in a spoiler role.
''You always want to try and make it as tough for those teams who have something to play for,'' he said.
Thornburg did just that, tossing six solid innings to lead the Brewers over St. Louis 5-3. Sean Halton homered for...
Khris Davis has been a very nice surprise for the Milwaukee Brewers in recent weeks, and they would very much like to have him back in the starting lineup. The rookie outfielder has been struggling with a sore left wrist but Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports that Davis took three rounds of batting practice on Thursday and should be back in the starting lineup in the near future, despite...
In the Bizarro World only Bud Selig could conjure up, the Red Sox 2014 home opener will be against their bitter National League rivals—the Milwaukee Brewers! Yup, you'll get to see the brand spanking new, PED-free Ryan Braun and his buddies in Interleague 'Plauge' at Fenway from Friday, April 4th through Sunday, April 6th. And, as with this year (Denver), the penultimate...
Tyler Thornburg threw six solid innings and Sean Halton homered to lead the Milwaukee Brewers over St. Louis 5-3 on Thursday night, snapping the Cardinals' five-game winning streak.
St. Louis fell into a tie with Pittsburgh for the top spot in the NL Central. Both teams are 85-61 with 16 games remaining. The idle Cincinnati Reds are 2 1/2 back.
Milwaukee broke a three-game...
Here we are, folks: the End of Season Post-Mortem series. If you're new here (which about 50% of our reader base is in comparison to last year), here's a brief explanation: after a team is eliminated from playoff contention, we're going to put their season under a microscope and look at just what the hell went wrong, what went right, and so on and so forth. The goal is...
Marco Estrada is making up for lost time.
The Milwaukee right-hander continued his string of strong performances in the Brewers' 5-1 loss at St. Louis on Wednesday. Estrada allowed two hits and one earned run in 6 2-3 innings. He did not allow a hit until Matt Carpenter singled with two outs in the sixth. Estrada left the game with a 1-0 lead.
Estrada is 2-0 with a 2.39 ERA...
