by Nathan Mendelowitz Brandon Crawford – Hot Justin K. Aller/Getty Images North America Homegrown product Brandon Crawford has been hitting lights out on this recent road trip for the Giants. His overall batting average is .352 but over the last seven games he has been hitting .478 while slugging .593 with two homers. Always been known for his defense, Crawford is now finally getting around to hitting and has represented the 8th spot well. Crawford’s WAR is already at 1.1 which places him sixth in the entire National League. Buster Posey – Not Ezra Shaw Buster Posey has not lived up to last years accolades so far this season. Posey is hitting an appalling .217 and slugging a paltry .319. In his last seven games, Posey only has five hits in 23 at bats. He does have two doubles and a triple in those five hits but for someone in Posey’s position in the batting order and team leadership; it’s not acceptable. Hopefully coming back home from cold weather in Chicago and cold hitting in Milwaukee, Posey will enjoy the warmer weather. Jed Lowrie – Hot It’s been hard to select just one player from the Athletics this season since they have started so hot. However, Jed Lowrie has made his presence felt. In the first 16 games of the season, Lowrie is batting .373 and slugging .644 with three homers. He also has 10 extra base hits and 13 RBIs making him a hot commodity right now. In a great start as Oakland has had in awhile, Lowrie is doing his part. Josh Reddick – Not Bob Levey, Getty Images It’s been a rough year for the bearded one.  After being out for a series because of injury, his comeback has been just as painful. Since coming back, Reddick is batting .111 and slugging only .167 with one extra base hit. Reddick does have three RBIs but also has eight strikeouts in 22 at bats meaning he has struck out 36 percent of the time. Thankfully for Reddick, the A’s are still winning but his lack of production is a warning sign. Michael Choice – Hot (Lance Iversen/The Chronicle) The River Cats have been in the midst of a winning streak and Michael Choice has been a reason why. Choice is batting .291 and is slugging .564 with four homers. He also has 16 RBIs which is leading the team and his four homers is tied for the lead. This offensive explosion has brought the River Cats back to contention early in the minor league season. Mitch Lively – Not (Don Davis) After having ample opportunity to make the team in spring training, Mitch Lively is showing why he is still in the minors. Lively has an 11.37 ERA in 6.1 innings of relief work so far. His WHIP is also appalling as it sits at 2.526. Lively had a chance to make it but so far he has done nothing to help himself. The only saving grace is he hasn’t allowed a homer, but in retrospect, it doesn’t mean much.
