Found February 20, 2013 on Sox and Dawgs:
Look we wish Kevin Youkilis all the best. After all he was a rock for the Boston Red Sox for a long time. And while some will harbor resentment for his signing with the Red Sox's most hated rival, the New York Yankees, I personally hope he does well, just not against the Sox. But still, there's so much wrong with this picture. First off, it's Youk in a Yankees uniform. Secondly, it's not Youk without the Youk goatee. I could go on but you get my point. • I agree. Youk does not look right in pinstripes. Is it the missing goatee? Was it the same goatee that drew chin music from Joba?

Yankees Injury News: Oh not Hughes already

The first injury in New York Yankees spring training camp was reported by ESPN New York earlier today; and surprise, surprise it was pitcher Phil Hughes. Phil Hughes (Photo credit: alexabboud) He is suffering from a bulging disc in his back, which gave me déjà vu, as the Yankees despicable off-season made it east to forget about the team’s existing issues. Hughes is not unfamiliar...

The under the radar career of Koji Uehara

One of the unsung deals of this off season was when the Boston Red Sox signed Koji Uehara to a one year deal for $4.25 million. He was rated as the 35th top free agent on MLB Trade Rumors before the off season really got under way. But still, the signing went under the radar. And that is only fitting because Uehara's entire career has been under the radar. Koji Uehara came...

Hughes sidelined

According to Andy McCullough of The Star Ledger via twitter, Phil Hughes will be shutdown for almost a week due to a bulging disc. Hughes experienced stiffness in his upper back toward his shoulder blade, and underwent an MRI. Today at media day at the Yankees’ Spring Training complex, Hughes revealed the diagnosis. He originally aggrivated his back during infield drills while...

Photo: Dustin Pedroia joins Twitter world by tweeting pic of him and Ric Flair

Boston Red Sox second basemen Dustin Pedroia made quite the Twitter debut on Monday night. Under the ingenius handle @15Lasershow, the former American League MVP tweeted out the above photo in tribute of Ric "The Nature Boy" Flair as his first official tweet.Flair, a WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling icon, visited the Red Sox clubhouse before a game in 2011 to give Pedroia...
HAIRY SITUATION

Price: Yanks a no-go, cites facial hair

If and when pitcher David Price moves on from the Rays, one team he is not interested in joining is the Yankees because of the team's policy against facial hair.

Pedro's number one piece of advice to young players

As part of Pedro Martinez's Boston media tour since rejoining the Red Sox as a special assistant, he was interviewed this morning by Dennis and Callahan. He had lots to say, and I encourage you to check out the recap they put up on WEEI.com.  One of the most interesting parts of the interview was when Martinez discussed his signing with the Mets after 2004. The Red Sox had...

Fantasy Baseball Draft Strategy: Why Robinson Cano Is Not a 1st- Rounder

Source: Elsa/Getty Images North America I was doing a mock draft with a buddy last night, and he had the fourth overall pick. This is probably the most interesting pick in the entire draft assuming Trout, Braun, and Miggy go one-two-three in some order. The fourth pick can go any number of ways. There are several excellent outfielders who offer a power/speed combo like Andrew McCuthcen...

Pedro Martinez: 90% of the batters I hit were intentional

Pitchers like Pedro Martinez don’t miss very often. The former Boston Red Sox ace had as much control as any hurler who has every played the game. That can only mean two things when it comes to hitting a batter with a pitch: either it was a rare miss, or it was intentional. On Monday, Pedro talked about how pitching inside allowed him to have so much success throughout his remarkable...

Juan Nieves does not lack for optimism

Gordon Edes posted a round-up of quotes from pitching coach Juan Nieves about the five expected starters in the Red Sox rotation. It is...effusive. For example, check out just some of his thoughts on Red Sox whipping boy John Lackey: "Ohhh, he's awesome. He's in great shape. What I've seen right now, I know John [Farrell] spoke to him, was able to see him [this...

Shane Victorino, David Ortiz Joke Around With Teammates During Red Sox Photo Day (Video)

Standing still for a long photo session can be tiring, but the Red Sox didn’t have much trouble staying loose this season. During the team’s annual Photo Day, Shane Victorino and David Ortiz kept things light, joking around with Dustin Pedroia, Will Middlebrooks and others during their photo shoots and voice recording sessions. Check out the video below for a behind-the-scenes...

Vote: Which Red Sox Offseason Addition Are You Most Excited About?

The Red Sox’ offseason may have lacked that one big, defining move, but all in all it was a very successful winter in Boston. There wasn’t a Zack Greinke or Josh Hamilton coming the way of the Sox, but the team did make itself significantly better than 2012. In lieu of high-priced shocker, the Red Sox made a litany of cost-effective moves which shored up key positions that were...

In case you were wondering, Alex Rodriguez does eat at seafood restaurants (photos)

It wouldn’t be spring training in Major League Baseball without some essentially useless news regarding New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. The currently rehabbing A-Rod has been maintaining a low profile as of late, staying out of the public eye as he conducts his rehabilitation from hip surgery in the Big Apple, far away from the Yankees’ spring training facilities...

Pete Frates Battles ALS, Represets Boston College Baseball Before Scrimmage Against Red Sox (Video)

There he can impart the wisdom he acquired playing for the Eagles from 2004 to 2007, and serve...
