A season over and a career in jeopardy after a gruesome injury -- and Tim Hudson's wife saw it all unfold before her eyes at Citi Field Wednesday night. But Kim Hudson didn't harbor any ill-will toward the Mets' Eric Young Jr. after he inadvertently stepped on Hudson's right ankle while he was trying to cover first base. Instead she wrote to both Young and the Mets, thanking them for the way they handled it.Can't say enough great things about the @Mets organization and the way they handled Tim's injury: players, medical team, security grateful Kim Hudson (@kimberlybhudson) July 25, 2013 @EYJr Thank you for playing the game the right way. You're obviously one of the good guys. We appreciate you. Kim Hudson (@kimberlybhudson) July 25, 2013Young, who was shaken up by what happened and rushed back to apologize after the play, shook Hudson's hand as he was carted off the field. After the game he told reporters: "I knew I didn't get any of the base. I got all of his foot. I pretty much knew it was broke right when I did it. That's why I ran back to him and tried to console him as much as I could and to apologize." Hudson, 38, will undergo surgery in Atlanta when the swelling in his ankle subsides. A free agent after the winter, Hudson has already bounced back from a back injury and Tommy John surgery.Earlier this season Hudson won his 200th career game and Wednesday's victory moved him to 8-7, marking the 15th straight year his record has been above .500.
