FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) -- Justin Morneau is on the mend with the Minnesota Twins and says he hopes to play in the team's first exhibition game Saturday.
With the offseason signing of hard-throwing reliever Joel Zumaya, the Twins were hoping they found a right-handed complement to top setup man Glen Perkins. But with Zumaya out for the season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament, the Twins have to find a replacement to handle late-inning duties to hand the ball off to Perkins and closer Matt Capps.
The former shortstop couldn't secure that position last season, but the Twins hope his new spot will allow him to blossom.
