The New York Yankees haven’t had a whole lot of luck in recent months. Alex Rodriguez is out for the foreseeable future with a hip injury not to mention having his name involved in new steroids allegations, they failed to improve the team during the off-season, and their leading home run  hitter Curtis Granderson suffered a broken arm in a spring training game, so you could say they were due for some good news. Well they received some on Saturday when the New York Post reported that Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki escaped a three-car traffic accident unhurt although, his Land Rover was totaled. The incident took place in Tampa Bay, Florida where the Yankees are preparing for the new baseball season and Ichiro says he doesn’t feel a thing. “Not at all,” the Yankees’ right fielder said when asked if his 39-year-old body was sore. “I almost want my body to feel something but my body didn’t react. I guess you can say that you are going to have to do a lot worse for me to get hurt.” According to Tampa police, Ichiro hit a woman who failed to yield the right of way when making a left turn. “He struck her,” Tampa Lt. Ronald McMullen said. “She ended up hitting a third car, but there were no injuries.” Ichiro explained his side of things but in the end just sounded relieved that no one was hurt in the accident. “I had the green light and entered the intersection. The car turned left and was turning into me,” Ichiro said. “I slammed on the brakes and couldn’t do anything about it.” “She is okay and I am very thankful that everyone is okay,” Ichiro said of Trange Le, whose car hit Ichiro’s vehicle in the front and a little to the driver’s side and was also totaled. “She was very distraught and apologetic from the beginning. Of course I felt grateful but more grateful that she was okay and there was no real big injuries.” Fortunately for the Yankees Ichiro walked away from this accident unharmed, they could ill-afford to lose him for any amount of time.
