I know this is a week old, but I used the All-Star Break to, well, take a break. I think with a 37-50 first half, we all needed a break.
Anyway, before the unsettling finish to the Phillies' 5-0 loss to the Braves last Friday, Ryan Howard made a triumphant return.
I was standing behind section 130 and was able to get this picture (above), which you may have seen in one of our many posts on Ryan Howard, and this video (below). Before it gets too late to even remember, here they are for your enjoyment.

Roy Halladay will start for the Phillies on Tuesday. (AP)
After watching him throw a 28-pitch bullpen session earlier today, Rich Dubee announced that Roy Halladay had completely recovered from his shoulder strain and will start when the team visits the Dodgers on Tuesday. Halladay–who has not started a game since May 27, and has been on the DL since May 29–will be on a pitch...
Cole Hamels, Philadelphia Phillies
Numerous reports indicate that the Philadelphia Phillies will make one final push to sign left-hander Cole Hamels before deciding whether to trade him.
The Phillies and Hamels’ agent John Boggs have not had much contact in the past month plus, but that could be about to change. As the Phillies resume their schedule after the All Star break, it...
Well, at least it wasn't someone TOO important. The latest 2012 Phillies casualty to the disabled list is left-handed reliever Raul Valdes. Valdes has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right hip strain, and left-handed reliever Joe Savery has been recalled from AAA Lehigh Valley to take his place.
Valdes has been moderately effective, going 2-2 with a 3.80...
The end his here. If we the Phillies fans want to admit it or not, the chances of our beloved team getting into the playoffs would take a miracle. After 87 games the Phillies are 14 games back and 16 in the loss column to Washington. For any shot at a wildcard, the Fightin’s will need to finish the season 55-20. Take these numbers and then take a hard look at...
Buster Olney filled in as host of Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN Radio this morning and spoke at length about the Cole Hamels situation. Olney has written about Hamels frequently this year, as he is a homegrown ace on a team built around pitching who may prove too costly for the Phillies as a result of other expensive personnel decisions.
The Phils and Hamels may be closing...

The Phillies were looking for a quality start from Vance Worley tonight to snap out of their five-game losing streak. Impatient at-bats last night led to a 6-2 loss, and a terrible way to kick off the second half of the season.
Thankfully, an outburst of offense gave the Phillies a 4-0 lead in the first inning. First, Chase Utley singled to left...

Within the next couple of weeks, we may have the answer to whether or not Cole Hamels will be a member of the Phillies after the 2012 season. Jayson Stark of ESPN reports that the Philadelphia front office is preparing a substantial contract offer for the impending free agent.
This sounds like the...
I am testing out my new iPhone app to write this so I apologize if it comes out a little weird.
After last night's demoralizing loss to the Colorado Rockies, the atmosphere online was eerily quiet. The beat writers and presumably the players were all silent.
The storyline was the same: poor offense, poor bullpen, Phillies lose. The Phillies' website had a positive...
Vance Worley pitched into the seventh inning and hit a two-run double, Carlos Ruiz added a three-run homer, and the Philadelphia Phillies hung on to beat the Colorado Rockies 8-5 Saturday night to snap a five-game losing streak.
Worley (5-5) allowed two runs on eight hits in 6 2-3 innings. He struck out two and walked two, worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth and benefited...

The second half of the season is underway! In recent history, the Phillies have been known to be a second half team. They have to start playing good baseball immediately if they want any shot...
Tonight, the Phillies downed the Colorado Rockies 8-5. For the Phils, who had lost five straight, and 11-of-12, coming into the contest, it was a much-needed victory. It took all-around effort, as only the middle relief didn’t contribute to the win.
Chooch's hot start to the second half has only fueled the rumors that he's super-human (AP)
VANIMAL DOES IT ALL
The Phillies had one of their first halves in ten years, going 37-50 headed into the All-Star Break. Well it's only been four days since they played, but I'm sick and tired of seeing this team playing like crap as well as being sick and tired of being negative about this team. So for the beginning of this second half I am going to be positive about this team because it...
Lenny Dykstra, the star of the 1993 Philadelphia Phillies, has pleaded guilty to three counts related to bankruptcy fraud, according to the Associated Press. Dykstra faces up to 20 years in prison and is scheduled for sentencing on December 3.
The charges Dykstra filed a guilty plea to included one count of bankruptcy fraud, another for concealment of assets and another for money...
Troy Tulowitzki remains out with an injury as the Phillies head to Colorado to face the Rockies. (Philliedelphia/Kevin Durso)
If there is going to be a huge comeback from the Phillies, it has to begin now. In the short term, the Phillies drew a good opponent.
The Colorado Rockies are in fourth place in the NL West with a 33-52 record, one of only a handful of teams below the...
