Jordan Pacheco had a rough night on Wednesday. The Colorado Rockies can't win on the road. Also, water is wet.The Rockies lost a 4-2 decision in San Diego on Wednesday night, dropping their record on their current seven-game road trip to 2-4. They have to salvage an early evening game on Thursday in order to come home without a predictably bad West Coast road trip.On Wednesday night, the goat was Jordan Pacheco. The Rockies backup catcher was in the spotlight twice for the wrong things. With the game tied at one, Pacheco simply whiffed on a ball in the dirt from starter Jorge De La Rosa. With runners at first and third, De La Rosa threw a ball in the dirt with Chris Denorfia at that plate. Pacheco missed it, allowing a run to score and another runner to move into scoring position. Denorfia then smashed a double down the right field line, scoring the Padres third run.In the top of the 6th, Pacheco had a prime opportunity to make up for his mistake. With one out, the Rockies knocke...

Juan Nicasio shows that he has taken huge steps forward for the Colorado Rockies

Juan Nicasio showed his huge steps on Tuesday night. One pitch Juan. That is what would have been an appropriate nickname for Colorado Rockies starter Juan Nicasio in 2013. The right-hander threw his four seemed fastball literally 95 percent of the time. After being rushed to the big leagues, it was the only pitch that was good enough to use at the big league level. On Tuesday night...

Prospect Watch: Ryan McMahon- Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies have two pitching prospects who get all the publicity. Jon Gray and Eddie Butler will soon headline the Colorado rotation, but pitching isn’t the only thing they have stockpiled in their system. The Rockies are known for drafting/signing quarterbacks; Seth Smith, Todd Helton and Russell Wilson are just a few names that come to mind. Now you can add Ryan McMahon...

Rockies' Jhoulys Chacin will make second rehab start on Friday

The Colorado Rockies have started the season with a 7-8 record, although third in runs scored and at the top in several other offensive categories. The problem is with a pitching staff that is 27th in ERA and 21st in quality starts. Help could be on the way before long, as right-hander Jhoulys Chacin is set to make his second rehab start on Friday. As reported by Thomas Harding...

DraftKings – Top O’ The Morneau To You

So I've been leading with pitchers all the time. That shizz is seriously gonna get boring fast. And believe me, I've been married for basically 10 years so I know boring. I ain't playin' DraftKings to feel like all I got is top or bottom! TMI? Yeah, TMI...but I'm gonna do things a little differently because I feel like it. And because Justin Morneau is feeling...

Rockies' Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) is day-to-day

Michael Cuddyer, who got right back into action after colliding with a wall in San Diego on Tuesday, left Thursday afternoon's game in the 7th inning with a cramp in his left hamstring, reports Thomas Harding of MLB.com. (Video here). Cuddyer was replaced in right field by Brandon Barnes, as the Colorado Rockies defeated the San Diego Padres 3-1. He expects to be out of the...

Not time to hit the panic button on De La Rosa

It is not that pitching has always been the Colorado Rockies Achilles’ heel. As an organization the Rockies have just simply always had to work differently with pitchers than other franchises. Pitching at altitude has mentally derailed many young Rockies prospects. Young, promising, pitchers have often been know to wilt under the unique circumstances of pitching at Coors Field...

Rockies wrap up road trip with win vs Padres

Veteran Michael Cuddyer is not one for hyperbole, especially not 17 games into the season. So when he calls a win a "big win," it's, well, a big win. Cuddyer's Rockies rallied to beat the Padres 3-1 on Thursday afternoon at Petco Park, a positive ending to a seven-game road trip marked by missed opportunities. "We lost four one-run games on this road trip...
