The Associated Press Nick Swisher and Jason Giambi hit back-to-back homers off Heath Hembree, powering the Cleveland Indians to a 6-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday.
Hembree allowed Swisher's third home run of the spring, a three-run shot in the fifth. Giambi hit his first. Ryan Raburn, who leads the Indians with four homers, hit a pair of doubles, one of them with the bases loaded.
Ubaldo Jimenez, who has quickened his delivery for better results, allowed three hits and one run in four innings. Michael Bourn lost Brandon Crawford's fly ball in the sun, letting it fall for a triple. Hunter Pence followed with an RBI single.
Tim Lincecum was scratched because of a blister. Chad Gaudin, trying to earn a job in the bullpen, pitched three scoreless innings.

The IBI's 2013 Indians Top 60 Prospect countdown continues on with first baseman Jesus Aguilar. Aguilar is a guy that a lot of Indians fans and the organization themselves are excited about because good right-handed power is hard to find. He certainly has that and then some, and is arguably the best power prospect in the entire system. Tony talks about that power potential and...

Today is the day that Tim Lincecum was scheduled to return to the mound from his blister injury. He wasn’t ready to go, but did manage to get a bullpen session in. To me that’s still putting in work, so I’m good with that!
Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News says (via Twitter) Lincecum’s bullpen session went well, and he’s...
The Cleveland Indians scored six runs in two innings on Thursday afternoon to give them a 6-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants in support of starting pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez on Thursday afternoon.
Jimenez, the enigmatic starter that the Indians acquired at the trade deadline in 2011, easily had his best start of the spring. The Indians right-hander went four innings when...
Indians outfielder Michael Brantley is among 11 players to sign one-year contracts with Cleveland.
Brantley will start in left field following the team's signing of free agent center fielder Michael Bourn. He resumes workouts Thursday after he was spiked last week during an exhibition game and needed 15 stitches. Manager Terry Francona said Brantley could be playing in games...

Today is the first day of cuts in Spring Training for the San Francisco Giants. They’ve sent pitchers Fabio Castillo, Edward Concepcion, Justin Fitzgerald, Jose Valdez, Josh Osich, infielder Joe Panik and catcher Andrew Susac to Minor League Camp, says Giants Beat Writer Chris Haft (via Twitter).
In another Haft tweet, he says infielder...
I’m not going to lie, I enjoy Brian Wilson’s schtick. The dude is at Disneyland in a Buzz Lightyear zip-up yet he’s able to maintain this menacing look that only a closer could possess. Speaking of which; I had no idea where or who Brian Wilson played for.. I researched it and the answer was no one.
FYI – Free-agent reliever Brian Wilson is unlikely to sign with a new team...
New Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona believes that Jason Giambi is a manager-in-waiting.
It sounds like the Yankees have one more name to take off of the list of potential Mark Teixeira replacements. Aubrey Huff is saying he is “pretty much retired.” Although earlier in the off-season he sounded like he still wanted to play, not surprisingly, there was not much interest in a 36-year-old first baseman coming off of a 87 wRC+ in 2011 and a 76 wRC+ in 2012. That should...
I just can help but cringe when I say the name Ubaldo Jimenez.
I was never a fan of the deal that brought him here, and that certainly hasn’t changed over the past 1 ½ years. When he signed my daughter’s baseball last year, I honestly thought, “Holy cow, he just ruined that ball. If I throw it, it’s going to hit the dirt a foot in front of the plate, or end up somewhere...
The team with the most Indian presence, Puerto Rico, opened up action on Friday against Spain with Mike Aviles starting at shortstop. In the first inning, Aviles knocked in team Puerto Rico's second run with a sacrifice fly that scored Alex Rios. He also later walked and stole a base in the game that Puerto Rico won 3-0.
Although their were no Indians involved, a few other...
So, Sergio Romo blew the save and Mexico lost a shocker to Italy.
Well, he kinda blew it. Here’s the play.
Well, it was blown even without the drop. Deep fly ball to left with a man on third and one out, the game would’ve been tied.
Yeah, but that’s tied, not lost. I mean, come on, the left fielder should’ve had that ball!
Yeah, but Romo shouldn’t have given up...
