Not much has gone right for the Cleveland Indians in the second half of the season. Most of the hitters have been in slumps, and most of the pitchers have struggled. However, one pitcher who is making the most of a bad situation is rookie right-hander Corey Kluber. Kluber pitched six solid innings Monday against a very good Detroit Tigers lineup to help lead the Indians to a rare victory, 3-2. He gave up two runs on six hits, striking out four and walking one. It was Kluber's first major league victory. In seven starts since being recalled from Class AAA Columbus on Aug. 2, he is 1-3 with a 4.79 ERA. Those are not exceptional numbers, but Kluber has nonetheless impressed Indians officials in his first month with the team. Manager Manny Acta has consistently praised Kluber's stuff, saying it is good enough to win at the major league level.
