CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Indians have signed free agent left-hander Scott Kazmir to a minor league contract. Kazmir, a three-time All-Star who led the AL in strikeouts in 2007, will have a shot at making the Indians' starting rotation at spring training in Goodyear, Ariz. The 28-year-old spent last season in the independent Atlantic League. He has a 66-61 career record with a 4.17 ERA in 179 starts for Tampa Bay and the Los Angeles Angels. He went 13-9 with a 3.48 ERA in 2007 for the Rays. The Indians also signed right-hander Jerry Gil and Lefty Edward Paredes to minor league deals with non-roster invitations to camp. The 30-year old Gil is a former position player who switched the mound in in 2008. He spent last season at Triple-A Las Vegas, going 7-1 with nine saves in 58 relief outings. Paredes pitched in Seattle's system from 2005-11.

The culture and roster have changed, so what’s the Tribe’s next move?

It has been quite the offseason for the Indians. From the day Manny Acta was fired, the Dolan Family Ownership pushed forward with a new era for their downtrodden organization. Many scoffed (me included) when it was decided that Team President Mark Shapiro and GM Chris Antonetti would stay on board to oversee the changes that were about to come. Just over three months later, Antonetti...

We continue with our 2013 prospect coverage here at the IBI with a look at the left-handed starters in the Indians system. The Indians have not had a suitable left-handed starting pitching option in their rotation since they traded Cliff Lee in July of 2009, and that is still the case as the Indians will likely go into the 2013 season with an all right-handed starting rotation. ...

Quincy Latimore for Jeanmar Gomez

Latest on Grady Sizemore

Don’t expect free-agent outfielder Grady Sizemore to sign with a team anytime soon.   Sizemore, 30, underwent microfracture surgery on his right knee in September, and does not want to commit to a team until he is ready to play again, according to his agent, Joe Urbon.   “It could be Opening Day.
