PLAYERS: Ryan Raburn
TEAMS: Cleveland Indians
The Indians have signed utilityman Ryan Raburn to a two-year contract extension with a club option for 2016. Released by Detroit after last season, Raburn has had a major impact with the Indians, who signed him to a minor league free agent contract in January. Raburn is batting .277 with 13 homers and 38 RBIs in 66 games. The versatile Raburn has made starts in right field (37), left (seven), second base (two) and designated hitter (five). He's batted .462 (12 of 26) with 19 RBIs with runners in scoring position and two outs. Raburn was named the Tigers' starting second baseman before the 2012 season. However, he battled injuries, hit just .171 in 66 games and spent some time at Triple-A Toledo before the Tigers released him.

One of A-Rod's former teammates in the Bronx says the title the team won in 2009 may be tainted now because of A-Rod and the Biogenesis scandal.

Cleveland Indians Fans Chant “Detroit’s Bankrupt” At Ballpark

Indians fans began to chant “Detroit’s bankrupt” after Tigers fans were chanting “Let’s go Tigers” in Cleveland last night.  In not the classiest of moves, Cleveland fans took the jabbing to an unnecessary level by harping on the extreme financial distress of a hard working town.  However, the Tigers got the last laugh winning the first three games of a four-game series...

MLB News: Indians reveal Corey Kluber out four to six weeks

The medical update on Indians’ starting pitcher Corey Kluber isn’t good. The Indians today announced that Kluber will miss four to six weeks with his sprained middle finger. The injury could end up costing him the rest of the season. Kluber has been fantastic for the Indians this season, surprising even the most die-hard Tribe minor league watchers. Kluber is 7-5 with a 3.54...

Indians designate Mark Reynolds for assignment

According to reports, the Indians have designated Mark Reynolds for assignment and have recalled right-handed pitcher Preston Guilmet from Triple-A Columbus. Reynolds, 30, was hitting just .215 with 15 homers, 48 RBI and .680 OPS in 99 games for the Indians this season. He also had 43 walks and 123 strikeouts in 335 at bats. The numbers as a hole were not terrible as the 15 homers...

Indians Kluber out a month with finger injury

Indians starter Corey Kluber will miss at least one month - and maybe longer - with a sprained right middle finger. Kluber injured his finger while throwing a breaking ball in the eighth inning on Monday night, when he shut out Detroit for 7 1-3 innings. The Indians said an MRI confirmed the diagnosis of a sprain, which is the same injury that sidelined teammate Zach McAllister...

Indians to designate Mark Reynolds

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Indians are expected to designate struggling slugger Mark Reynolds for assignment. Reynolds, who signed a one-year, 6 million free agent contract with Cleveland in December, has been a major disappointment this season. He's batting .215 with 15 homers and 48 RBIs. But the free-swinger has struck out 123 times and he's only hit two homers since May. Since...

Sailing with the Clippers: 8/1/13 to 8/7/13

Any hopes of the Clippers reaching the playoffs in 2013 are fading fast. After another mediocre 3-4 week, Columbus finds themselves 6.5 games out of a Wild Card spot and 11 games out of first place in the International League West. Although not dead, the chances for the Clippers to make a last minute surge are dwindling with a little under a month to go in the season. They’re either...

Tigers 4 Indians 2: Kluber’s gem goes for naught as Perez implodes

I was thinking about this on my drive home from Progressive Field last night. Should I immediately go to the computer and start firing in anger or should I sleep on it and see how I felt in the morning. I took the mature path. However, I was up in the middle of the night not once, but twice, for a solid two plus hours thinking about what I had just witnessed down at the corner of...

Kluber's injury adds to woes of losing to Detroit

CLEVELAND -- Losing two in a row is tough.Losing a key player is tougher, especially when its a dependable starting pitcher. But doing all the above in two days -- thats really tough. So it has gone for the Cleveland Indians, as they have lost twice to Detroit when their closer and top starter did not come through, then lost probably their second best starting pitcher to an unexpected...

Damon: Evil Empire's '09 Title Tainted By A-Rod

Johnny Damon has emerged from retirement to blast Alex Rodriguez and his use of PEDs. When asked if the Evil Empire's 2009 title was tainted by A-Rod, Damon stated, "It would be a shame if that’s the only reason we won against the Twins, Angels and Phillies...but if that’s how he [A-Rod] was able to hit in the postseason, like he did that year, then yeah, absolutely...

Tigers Put A Nail In The Division Race Coffin, But Ryan Raburn Pitched!

7:20 PM: Good evening, all. You’re down to your third-string blogger with co-stars TD and Jon otherwise occupied, so I’m live blogging this bad boy with the Browns kicking off shortly as well! It’s the top of the second (1-2-3 on both sides in the 1st), and Zach McAllister (heretofore, referred to as “ZacMac”) just gave up a double off the wall in left. Michael Brantley...
