– Left handed pitcher George Sherrill is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery early in May according to Shannon Drayer of 710 AM ESPN Seattle. Sherrill was experiencing discomfort in his throwing elbow since the beginning of the season.
– The Washington Nationals have placed infielder Mark DeRosa on the 15-day Disabled List with a left oblique strain according to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post. “My body won't give me a break,” said DeRosa about his latest injury.
– Phillies first baseman, Ryan Howard, has been cleared for baseball activities according to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com. He traveled to Clearwater, Florida yesterday and will begin his rehab workouts today at the Phillies’ Spring Training facility.
