Found February 11, 2013 on No Guts, No Glory:
Last week seemingly out of the blue, Curt Schilling went on The Herd with Colin Cowherd and revealed that a member of the Boston Red Sox organization urged him to use PEDs in 2008. Schilling did not reveal the name of the individual but did say that the he no longer worked for the organization. Since then, Schilling has done subsequent interviews where he ruled out many individuals that were with the organization in 2008. Because of Schilling’s claim and the lack of details he gave, MLB and the Red Sox were forced to conduct their own investigation of the claims which wrapped up over the weekend. And according to ESPN, the investigation found that Schilling’s claims are completely “baseless”. Curt Schilling’s claim in 2008 that a member of the team’s medical staff raised the possibility of treating his injured shoulder with a performance-enhancing drug was “completely baseless,” investigations conducted by both the Boston Red Sox and Major League Baseball concluded, according to two...

MLB and Red Sox call Schilling claims “baseless”

In the latest round of “he said / they said”, “he did it / no I didn’t”, Major League Baseball and the Boston Red Sox concluded an investigation into Curt Schillings comments earlier this week that the Red Sox organization encouraged him to take PED’s in 2008 while recovering from injury.  Two sources close to these investigations have told ESPNBoston.com writer Gordon...

Clay Buchholz injures hamstring to kick off spring training

Sorry about the pic of J.D. Drew. It is just instinct to post a photo of Drew when I hear of a hamstring injury. I have to shake that old habit. It seems as if the luck of the Celtics has already rubbed off on the Red Sox, as Clay Buchholz injured his right hamstring on the first day of pitching workouts. Farrell said the team will know more Wednesday but added, “it was enough...

Report: Lyle Overbay Has Discussed Possibility of Playing Some Outfield With Red Sox

Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Lyle Overbay, a 36-year-old veteran of 12 major league seasons, has never played a position on the diamond other than first base in his big league career. It appears he has at least talked about changing that in 2013. Overbay has discussed with the Red Sox the possibility of playing some outfield, according to The Boston Globe’s...

Schilling’s accusations shot down, better left unsaid

Somethings are better left unsaid, but in today’s MLB everyone has to open their mouth. The latest player to come forward and offer performance-enhancing drug (PED) tidbits was former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling. While being interviewed on the Colin Cowherd  on ESPN Radio, Schilling stated a member of the Red Sox medical staff suggested that he try taking an illegal...

Bryce Brentz shoots himself in leg

Boston Red Sox outfield prospect Bryce Brentz has shot himself in the leg.  The minor league is expected to miss all of spring training because of the incident.  He was going to be given a chance to play the spring out in the Major League camp. According to Alex Speier of WEEI.com, Brentz was cleaning his gun when it accidentally went off.  Brentz was hit by the stray bullet...

Ellsbury's plane struck by lightning

Just when you think the Red Sox can't add any drama to the mix, Mother Nature intervenes. Jacoby Ellsbury tweeted out on Sunday night some frightening news for Red Sox Nation to hear, but didn't seem all that concerned about it himself. Our plane just got struck by lightning heading to Ft. Myers! #itsgoodluck Hopefully, the Red Sox outfielder is right about that luck...

Red Sox prospect Bryce Brentz shoots self in leg, won't be in big league camp this spring

Carl Pavano, you've got company. Boston Red Sox outfield prospect Bryce Brentz won't be in major league camp with the team this spring because of an offseason injury he suffered. OK, that's completely normal, these things happen every so often. Except Brentz's injury isn't exactly run of the mill: he shot himself through his leg while cleaning his gun. I&...

Clay Buchholz’s Hamstring, Daniel Bard’s Rebound Attempt Among Top 10 Red Sox Spring Training Storylines (Photos)

Spring training is officially under way, and the Red Sox are one of the more interesting teams to watch. There’s no telling whether this season will yield better results for the Sox. There are still a lot of questions, and after a 69-93 campaign, there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical. One thing that’s certain, however, is that this season’s Red Sox team looks significantly...

John Lackey Convinced He’ll ‘Be Fine’ in Boston With Good Health Backing Him (Video)

John Lackey has something to prove to Red Sox Nation. Now, there’s definitely a chasm between fan perception of Lackey and what his teammates say. While fan opinion has largely turned against the big right-hander, his teammates are still behind him. Lackey says that he’s not necessarily worried about the image of himself to those outside the lines, but at the same time he still...
