The Phillies playoff run is officially over after losing to the Marlins 2-1 last night. It was another “walk-off” loss for the Phillies their 12th this season, personifying the season. No hitting and poor relief pitching ,a formula in many of the Phillies losses and what needs to be addressed in the off-season.

We all new it was coming but I have to admit it still hurts. From the very beginning of the season the run was in jeopardy. Howard on the disabled list until the summer, Utley not making it out of spring training, two huge pieces lost. The plan, “just hang in there until they are back”, that was if all the stars perfectly aligned. Which very rarely happens in baseball and it didn’t for the Phillies. The big blows to the plan, Halladay going down, Cliff Lee pitching poorly and nobody to knock in the runs.

The Phillies will play out the remaining games and move to a off-season that hasn’t been seen around here in quite some time. But one thing will be the same especially when the trades and signings begin. HOPE will begin to build leading into the 2013 campaign and when it begins, we will be ready. Because truth be told the Phillies still have plenty of talent to build around. We saw it after the All-Star break, the Phillies played pretty well when the team’s top dogs were back and Lee regained his form.

Officially the Phillies era of success is over and today marks a new beginning. The off-season will bring plenty of change and gives us the time to heal. We will be back better than ever next year, IT’S OFFICIAL!Similar Posts:
